The 6-1 floor general was all over the place on both ends Wednesday night. A crafty point guard, Mitchell scored his 17 points in a variety of ways; using a quick first step to explode and attack the rack, or his tight handle that he keeps on a string to get his defender off balance. But when the opposition lays off the junior can really shoot it from long range.
Highlights
Dylan Labuhn
Dylan Labuhn
Labuhn was key for the Eagles late victory, knocking down four consecutive free throws over the final minutes. The junior combo guard is a force to be reckon with on both ends of the floor, forcing multiple steals with his active hands in passing lanes. Offensively, Labuhn knocked down a trio from beyond the arc with his constant movement without the basketball and readiness to pull the trigger.
Jackson Vallery
Jackson Vallery
Vallery is the do-it-all player that coaches love to have on their roster. The senior makes his presence felt in a variety of ways, from being the first one to dive after loose balls, crashing the offensive glass or making the extra pass, Vallery is a winning player through and through. When he’s not doing the little things, he also has a nice stroke from long range – knocking down a pair of triples in the win.
Emmanuel Rislin
Emmanuel Rislin
There was not much the Eagles could do to stop Rislin on Wednesday night, leading Colonial with 16 points. With his long 6-8 frame, the senior was blocking shots on one end before running the floor to slam it down on the other. Rislin rebounds the basketball at an extremely high efficiency, using his long arms to reach the ball at its highest point, along with his ability to reject shots where he possesses great timing and instincts.
Cordero Washington
Cordero Washington
The driving force behind the Grenadier’s offense, Washington makes things easier for everybody around him with his basketball IQ and shot-making ability. With the ball in his hands, Washington’s three-level scoring ability was a big reason behind his 13 points, knocking down a pair of triples and multiple finishes around the basket. Once he is around the cup, the 6-2 guard is cool, calm and collected – finish through contact multiple times throughout the game.
