Northwood High held their final non-conference game against New Hanover on Saturday. Take a look at the recap/standouts.

Due to travel and attendance of another game in Raleigh, things picked up for PrepHoopsNC with 4:16 left in the second quarter with Northwood High leading New Hanover High 19-15. The youth of New Hanover didn't slow them down much as some buckets from [player_tooltip player_id='1225441' first='Hezron' last='Driver'] kept things close at 23-19 with just 2 minutes remaining in the first half. A 3-pointer from [player_tooltip player_id='2077345' first='Nolan' last='Billings'] would make things 25-22 Northwood before the Chargers would finish the half scoring the next two buckets and leading 29-22 at halftime.

The Chargers would come out with a much more stout defensive front in the third quarter and it showed as they held the Wildcats to just eight points while scoring 17 points of their own. Northwood would kick off the second half on a 11-2 run led by UNC commit [player_tooltip player_id='1115509' first='Drake' last='Powell']. He put up eight points and dished out a few assists while showing off his ability to play multiple roles on both ends of the floor. The Chargers led New Hanover 46-30 after 3.

New Hanover would cut the deficit to 11 points with just 5:37 remaining in the game but Northwood would weather the storm as Powell would get them into a set that allowed them to go back up 14 points on the ensuing possession: a corner 3-pointer from [player_tooltip player_id='1698850' first='Jake' last='Leighton']. After that, it was all Chargers as they fed the ball in the paint and allowed Powell to do his thing as he finished with 16 points along with a slew of rebounds, assists and steals to lead Northwood to a 58-45 victory in the end.

The size of [player_tooltip player_id='1352123' first='Max' last='Frazier'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1489674' first='Kenan' last='Parrish'] combined with the defense of [player_tooltip player_id='1115509' first='Drake' last='Powell'] was a bit overwhelming, but the Wildcats still managed to keep things close.
