This year’s event is a 3 game series featuring teams from Reno matching up against squads from Northern California. In this article, we take a look at some players to watch from the tournament.
Been waiting quite some time to see the wing from Damote play. Their coming off a big win over McQueen, for a guy with that kind of size, I’m looking to gauge his skillset and want to see how far he is able to play away from the basket. In addition to that obviously looking for his impact on the glass and in the paint.

Thacker scored in double digits in his first game, but it’s his defense that has me interested in him. The PG snatched 4 steals in his season debut, helping the defending 5A North Champs get a victory.
I would have been taking a look at Tolbert regardless of his performance, as size is always an intriguing premium. As it is, Tolbert showed he’s more than a big body, racking up 16 points in his season debut. I’m really intrigued to see if he can keep it going this weekend at the WWS.
Saw Garcia this fall during our expo, he was ok, but I believe the value of his game translates more to real games vs camp formats. The versatile guard does a little bit of everything for his team, so I expect him to impact the game in a variety of ways this weekend.
It’s been too long since I’ve layed eyes on Sheets. First thing to watch for is physical growth. His high school coach called him one of the most skilled freshmen he’s ever coached, if he adds some size and muscle then watch out. He’s coming off a team high 16 point performance in the team season opener.
This will be a terrific time to evaluate the senior guard. Morency, is a highly skilled playmaker with the ability to shoot the ball as well as create for others. He will get a great test of his skill this week playing against a coulpe defensive minded Northern California squads.

I am not that familiar with Hummell’s game, but anytime I see a guard averaging 7 boards per game I’m intrigued, that is exactly how many the five foot eleven inch PG grabed in the Cougars debut. I’m expecting some more scrappy performances from the floor general this weekend.
