With two Signature Series games and a semifinal berth on the line, day three was nothing short of spectacular. Prep Hoops scout Riley Sheppard was there for the exciting third day and is here to provide you with who stood out.
At 6-8, Yearney possesses the ability to put the ball on the deck and take his defender to the rack along with being able to score from outside. But when he does get down low, good luck forcing a miss because the forward comes equipped with elite body control and balance down low.
Watching Sterck right off the bat, it is hard to believe he is only a sophomore. Not only does the guard play with a high level of basketball IQ, but also a cool, calm and collected demeanor at all time. When he is running the offense as he often is for The Rock, the game just comes so easy, almost always hitting his teammates pitch perfect in the shooters pocket for easy buckets.
Carbuccia is as shifty as it comes with a defender in front of him. On top of this, the guard has a combination of dribble moves to keep his match-up guessing at all times. On the defensive end, Carbuccia is constantly wreaking havoc, wracking up six steals and multiple pass deflections in the close loss on Sunday.
There are not a lot of players in the country with a quicker first step than Barno. Notching six of his 12 points in the final two minutes, all three field goals came from lay ups after blowing by a defender or two. The newest addition to FGCU’s 2023 recruiting class, Barno is also an elite defender – racking up three steals in the victory.
Despite standing at just 6-5, Lyttle does not shy away from contact one bit on the interior even against players with multiple inches on him. An all-around player, Lyttle plays with a grit and toughness that makes things difficult for any offense to get into a rhythm. Also equipped with a consistent mid-range jumper, the senior scored seven points on 3 of 4 shooting in the victory.
