Continue ReadingA 6-2 combo guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, Hayes has really turned himself into a dangerous perimeter shooter over the last few years, which has really rounded out his offensive game. He averaged 17.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists on 53-39-68 shooting splits as a junior for the Wolverines. He’s still at his best when he’s using his quickness, physicality, and athleticism to play downhill and get to the rim, but the improved jumper is a major added bonus.
Another combo guard who can really shoot it is Borbeck, who knocked down 37.4% of his 3-point attempts as a junior and figures to step into a bigger scoring role as a senior following the graduation of leading scorer Ryan Dolphin. A 6-2 wing who can put the ball on the floor, post up smaller defenders, or shoot it off the catch, Borbeck averaged 13.5 points and 2.7 assists a game last season for the Spartans.
Jones enjoyed a breakout junior year for the Trojans, averaging a team-high 17.4 points with 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists and impressive 52-37-79 splits. He’s a big-bodied wing who can handle it and absorb contact on his way to the rim, and he showcased a smooth stroke out to the arc both off the dribble and the catch.
Courtney is a standout athlete on the hardwood and gridiron. He averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.4 steals a game as a sophomore, coming off the bench in 24 of the 25 games he appeared in. He has good size and length, is a fantastic athlete who moves his feet on the defensive end, and he’s able to put constant pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to get to the rim.
A high IQ lead guard with excellent handles and a great feel for the game, Johnson loves to get others involved first and foremost, but he’s also a deadly shooter from deep (36.8 3P%) who can get scorching hot and carry a team offensively for stretches. He’s the straw that stirs the drink for a potent Hawks offense.
Uecker had no issues adjusting to varsity minutes in the CIML last year, averaging 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, each of which led the J-Hawks last season. He’s a fantastic shooter (43.9 3P%) with a lightning-quick release both off the dribble and the catch, and he creates shots for himself and others at a high clip.
Highlights
Wright is a highly active 6-6 big man with tremendous skills on the glass. He has fantastic hands and a non-stop motor that he uses to dominate on the glass on both ends of the floor, averaging 12.7 rebounds a game (5.4 offensive, 7.3 defensive) to go with 13.7 points.
Deng is a great athlete who thrives when he’s playing downhill and using his athleticism and length to get to the rim for finishes through contact and above the rim. He’s a dynamic three-level scorer who had an excellent summer with a tremendous D1 Minnesota team, shooting it really well from the arc and defending at a high level on the perimeter. He’s primed to have a breakout sophomore year for the Tigers.
