Courtney was great in two viewings last week, averaging 20 points on a combined 17-23 shooting (4-6 3P), 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 3.5 steals in wins over 4A #2 Iowa City West and 2A #2 Hudson. The only knock on Courtney last week was poor free-throw shooting (2-10 in the two games combined), but his full offensive arsenal was on display. Against West, he was 11-15 from the floor en route to 26 points, completely dominating the game as a scorer by getting to his mid-range jumper off the dribble, and using his size, athleticism, and physicality to carve out a tiny bit of space to get to his shot, and then elevate above the defense. Against Hudson, he played more of a facilitator role, finishing with 14 points on 6-8 shooting to go with 10 assists. He sees the floor really well and is great at driving and getting the defense to collapse, then finding open cutters or shooters for easy looks. A really strong week for the 6-2 senior guard.
