Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: North
The Polars have a new coach, they lost a strong senior class, and there is a different feeling in the program. But this is not a rebuild. Not at all. In fact, they are still the heavy City favorites, they are still a top ten team in Class AA, and if the chemistry forms they can be a Class AA title contender. They do have a new coach though and Max Wilson comes in as playmaking senior. That said, Rich, Sager, and McCrimmon have waited their turn and I think all three are going to have great years.
Compete with Most: Edison, Southwest, Washburn, Henry
Edison has two starters back and two reserves back, they should be improved on their 3-9 league record from a season ago. Southwest had a deeper team last year than they’ve had and went 7-5 in league play. They should be around that again and Liam Farniok Liam Farniok 6'3" | SG Minneapolis Southwest | 2024 State MN should have a big season. Washburn has the best big in the league in Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6'9" | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN but four starters around him graduated. And Henry has a solid senior group and a nice young point guard. They should be able to compete but might not have enough to get in the middle.
Rebuilding: South, Roosevelt
South lost nine of their top ten guys from last season and most of it was to transfer. It’s a totally new team outside of sharpshooter Poet Davis Poet Davis 5'11" | SG Minneapolis South | 2024 State MN who will be one of the best players in the league. It’s really tough to predict what they will be because only one guy returns. Things are very tough over at Roosevelt right now but Avrey Wells is a good player.
