Caden came out firing on the road against Edison, putting up an impressive 20 points in the first half alone. At 6’4 he often mans the point for his team, and has been typically been known as a facilitator for his team. This game was different though as he was looking to score early, including a smooth finish right off of the opening tip. Caden knocked down a handful of threes off the catch, and had a really smooth spin move into a mid-range jumper for two more points. As always he brought a bunch of energy and intensity to the floor with his vocal leadership on defense. At 6’4 he has plenty of length which allows him to guard the 1-3 spots, and he’s the type of player who’s going to get on the floor for every single loose ball.

Even with the crowd talking trash to him all game, Caden put together a strong second half to bring Southwest back within single digits down the stretch. Although he’s typically more of a facilitator, Sullivan showed he can score in a variety of ways. At 6’4 he was able to hit jumpers from deep and mid-range, while also showing his touch around the rim. Really like his ability to come over a ball screen and then attack downhill. Caden showed off his court vision with some nice passes zipped in from the top of the key, using his height to see over the top of opposing guards.

Caden’s contributions may not always show up in the form of eye-catching stats, but he’s a key player for a talented Southwest team. At 6’4 he handled the ball well against North’s high pressure defense while going back the other way and defending one of North’s best players. He has terrific vision on the floor, and with his height he’s able to zip in passes from the perimeter to cutting teammates at the rim. Really like the toughness and energy that Caden competes with, and he’s a leader both with his effort and vocal contributions.

Caden looks much improved from the AAU season and turned in a well-rounded performance in the win over BSM. He impressed me most with his playmaking ability, along with his scoring plays. He did a great job bringing the ball up the floor and making plays, driving by defenders leading to assists or buckets himself. The senior guard also knocked down some shots from the outside, showing off his smooth mechanics. Sullivan will be stepping into a much larger role as a scorer, as well as a leader and facilitator.
