Liam Farniok Liam Farniok 6’3″ | SG Minneapolis Southwest | 2024 State MN had one of the hottest starts to a game I’ve seen in the past few years, as he poured in 20 points in just over 7 minutes to start the game out against Minneapolis North. The opposing defense started to focus in on him the rest of the game, but he still finished with an impressive 31 points to end North’s conference winning streak. He’s so good running off the ball and shooting off the catch, with the rare ability to elevate and get squared with the rim all in one smooth motion. At 6’3 he also has some size on the wing and is a smooth athlete who found success beating his man in the full-court press and getting his team into a numbers advantage.
Highlights
Dillon has emerged as one of the top shooters in the City Conference this winter, and he took over in the second half to lead Southwest to a win over North on Wednesday. His range extended to well beyond the arc which forces defenders to really step out and guard him on an island. He’s super quick and knows how to utilize a quick head-fake to get his man in the air and blow by them off the dribble. Has a nice floater in the lane but also showed he can get all the way to the rim when the lane is there. Finished with 21 points in the win.
Patrick showed why he’s one of the top uncommitted 2023’s in Minnesota with a dominant performance against Osseo. He was practically unstoppable in the pick & roll as he provides a big target with some quickness rolling to the hoop. Showcased good hands to catch and traffic. One of the things that really stands out about Patrick is how quickly he can elevate off the floor, and it allowed him to throw down a handful of dunks while also going on the other end and picking up three blocks. Bath’s work rate on the glass was unmatched and there where times he pulled in multiple offensive boards on the same possession as he just refused to quit until he put two points on the board. Finished with 26 points in the win.
Caden’s contributions may not always show up in the form of eye-catching stats, but he’s a key player for a talented Southwest team. At 6’4 he handled the ball well against North’s high pressure defense while going back the other way and defending one of North’s best players. He has terrific vision on the floor, and with his height he’s able to zip in passes from the perimeter to cutting teammates at the rim. Really like the toughness and energy that Caden competes with, and he’s a leader both with his effort and vocal contributions.
De’Mari was fearless against a loaded Totino-Grace team on Thursday night. He started off high school as mostly a slashing guard who loved to get to the basket, but has shown considerable improvements in his jumper both from three and mid-range. It was his jumper that was causing problems for the TG defense, as he’s so quick getting to his spots off the dribble but was also active moving without the ball. Could curl off a screen and quickly get into his shot before the defender had a chance to catch up. Finished with 23 points for Osseo.
Zashon Rich

Zashon was doing everything he could to try to keep North’s streak alive, and he had a huge second half. For a while he was carrying the load offensively, getting to the rim just about any time he wanted to with the ability to play off two feet and explode to the rim to finish through contact. His body control in mid-air is extremely impressive and it allows him to finish from awkward angles that most players can’t convert from. Defensively he never takes a play off, has the ability to slide his feet with smaller guards for 94 feet, but can also act as an extra shot blocking threat off the ball. Finished with 26 points on the night.
Oliver Shors
Oliver Shors
Oliver picked the right night to have the best game of his high school career, putting up 17 points in key moments of the game to help Southwest defeat North. Whenever there was a loose ball, Oliver seemed to be in the right place at the right time to help his team win back possession. Just a high effort player who was fighting for boards on both ends, and coming up with them even against taller players. Offensively he showed he can hit the open three, and was finding success sprinting ahead for transition lay-ups.
