Continue ReadingGurkse was on a mission on Saturday morning and was one of the most impressive guards at the event. After recovering through injury in the offseason, he looked to be in his peak form. He was springy with the ball in his hands and was getting past defenders and finishing over the trees all day. His burst with the rock opened up his outside game as well, and he was able to capitalize there. He’s a talented scorer and playmaker, and he’ll be in for an entertaining season as one of Rainer Beach’s main options.

With a poised and calm offensive game, the new Woodinville transfer has one of the softest touches around hoop. Blackmon has a patented finger role that slides into the bucket more often than not. With his size and dribble penetration, defenders bounce off him when he drives the lane and he can lay it in with either hand. He is more of a player who wants to get to his spots in the mid-range to operate, but you can tell he’s slowly improving as a long distance shooter over time and that is probably the next step for him.

For a player heading into his sophomore year, Elston was one of the underclassmen who seemed more than comfortable playing against the veterans at the event. He was able to break down a lot of defenders one-on-one to get himself open. His pull-up game and float game were on point in the few games I caught with him. He had been coming into his own over the AAU season, and this adds to it.

Scoring is starting become an easy thing for the 6-foot-5 combo guard from Annie Wright. Hunter Carter Hunter Carter 6’5″ | CG Annie Wright | 2024 CO is one of the more dynamic players out of 2024 class and is creative with his moves. He scored in multiple ways inside and out at the Expo. His offensive rebounding efforts at his size lead to a lot of easy looks inside. He’ll pull out turnaround jumpers and will catch defenders slipping up with off balance push shots.
A rhythm scorer and shooter, I got a good look at Liberty’s lead two guard yesterday. He’s a player who’s shown he can score at all three levels, especially over the last six months or so. He’s built up some muscle since last season and its helped him power through hits en route to the paint and finish. He’s fits the bill of a ‘go get a bucket’ guy.
