CJ Hornbeak CJ Hornbeak 6'2" | SG Toledo St. John's | 2023 State OH – 2023 – 6’3 G – St. John’s Jesuit
Hornbeak has gotten some offers and interest from the event on Sunday and I expect him to blow up this senior year. He has been a player since freshman year and once again reminded people that he is one of the top players in the area. He can score at all levels and has great timing on when to get it off near the rim. He can straight up put the ball in the basket. He has gotten so much more athletic too. He is now dunking consistently and it just shows he is starting to unlock a new level to his game. He is a player.
Daylen Green Daylen Green 6'2" | SG Sandusky | 2023 State OH – 2023 – 6’2 G – Sandusky
Green was someone that had the gym talking about him at the end of the day. He was very impressive. I was super impressed by his athleticism. He was very bouncy, caught a couple of lobs, threw down many dunks, and has a very good first step. A super skilled player that can put the ball in the basket. Just a straight hooper. Scores at a high volume. Long wingspan. Very calm and doesn’t say much attitude about him. Scholarship level player that turned heads on Sunday.
Matt Watkins Matt Watkins 6'2" | CG Perrysburg | 2023 State OH – 2023 – 6’2 PG – Perrysburg
Watkins is a player I love. He is just a hooper and a leader. Very nice point guard and just has confidence and swagger about him that people respect. He was on his teammates and telling them what to do, pretty rare in a showcase event. He also is a player. Very good size and skilled player. Scores insides then works out but he truly is someone that can put it in the basket. Makes very good plays and passes for others and trusts his teammates.
Landon Brewer Landon Brewer 6'5" | SG Antwerp | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’3 G – Antwerp
Brewer is a deadeye shooter who scored it in a variety of ways. He can both create a shot for himself or spot-up from outside. Shoots it well going right or left on the pull-up. Physical enough player to body up inside and score it in the paint. He also showed up clutch in their last game of the day by taking a game to overtime with a last-minute triple before finishing the win off at the free throw line. I like Brewer size as well. He will have to play point guard at the next level and his great scoring first point.
Micah Bays Micah Bays 6'2" | CG Sylvania Southview | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’1 G – Southview
Explosive slasher who gets by his defenders by changing his pace to explode hard-left and hard-right. Bays has a lot of potential to continue tapping into considering his athleticism and collegiate frame as a 6’1” guard. We expect him to be a big-time recruit in the area over the back half of his high school career.
Jalen C Brown Jalen C Brown 6'2" | SG Emmanuel Christian | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’2 G – Emmanuel Chsritan
Brown very much impressed me. He can shoot it from wherever and no matter if it’s off the dribble or on the move. He elevates very high on his jumper and he has tons of energy. He flies around and is all over the court. One of the top 2024 performers at the event.
Caden Kruse Caden Kruse 6'6" | PF Napoleon | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’6 W – Napoleon
Kruse’s combination of shooting ability, athleticism, and size give him scholarship potential. He’s an impressively built kid, especially in terms of his strong lower body. Pretty explosive leaper. Shoots it really well from beyond the arch. Kruse can also provide rebounding and defensive versatility. When it comes to collegiate potential, Kruse was one of the top juniors in attendance.
Jack Knapke Jack Knapke 6'8" | C Marion Local | 2024 State OH – 2024 – 6’8 C – Marion Local
Simply put, Knapke’s combination of height, physicality, skill, and mobility will translate to the next level and have scholarship programs buzzing next summer. He navigates the floor extremely well for his size and provides a great interior presence.
