Clemmons knocked down a couple of tough 3’s, finished well at the rim, and did a great job of getting his bigs involved. The Nebraska commit navigates well in the pick & roll and had some really impressive passes into the paint. His playing style will translate well to the next level, largely because of his high-IQ and playmaking ability. Clemmons joins an already talented Etowah team and could provide some valuable experience deep in the playoffs.
Highlights
Cameron Pope Cameron Pope 6’0″ | SG Cherokee | 2023 State GA has been on a roll lately and didn’t waste anytime before going to work on Thursday night. In the first couple of minutes, Pope converted two tough finishes at the rim, knocked down a deep 3, and had multiple pinpoint assists. The do-it-all guard out of Cherokee has improved tremendously since last season. He’s got great body control in the air which allows him to finish through contact a lot of the time and is looking a lot more explosive as of late. Cameron Pope Cameron Pope 6’0″ | SG Cherokee | 2023 State GA could be a major breakout candidate this year at Cherokee.
Highlights
Ryan Bellomy Ryan Bellomy 6’9″ | C Harrison | 2023 State GA had a solid outing on Thursday night for Harrison, making his presence known on the interior. The 6’9 big showed off a really nice touch around the rim and knocked down the occasional 15-footer when given space. Bellamy is a gifted rim-protector and did a nice job of patrolling the paint, tallying several blocks in the first two weeks. Bellomy’s game has a lot of room to grow as he develops into more of a dominant paint scorer. When it’s all said and done, Bellomy could be a LM/D2 steal.
Jake Whitaker Jake Whitaker 6’6″ | PF Kennesaw Mountain | 2024 GA had it going on Thursday night, making his presence felt in a variety of ways. Whitaker spent the offseason running with Wood Elite’s 2024 crew where he was often matched up against some of the southeast’s best big men. He brings a newfound confidence back to his Kennesaw Mountain team where he’ll play a huge role this year. Whitaker shot it well from 3 and looks confident shooting it. He also finishes strong through contact at the rim and converted on multiple and-1’s on Thursday.
Despite a loss to Walton, Jax Abernathy Jax Abernathy 6’4″ | SG Christian Heritage | 2024 State GA showed a lot of positive signs throughout the game. Abernathy and Cash Hare Cash Hare 6’4″ | PF Christian Heritage | 2024 State GA make for an enticing pair of 2024 guards and play well off of each other. Abernathy is a big, combo guard that can score it from all 3 levels and has a really nice touch from mid-range. He was crafty scoring the ball on Thursday night, using nifty footwork and body control to create open looks around the paint. Abernathy received his first offer this summer from Alabama at Huntsville.
