Preseason Player of the Year: 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171659' first='Owen' last='Larson'] (Estherville Lincoln Central)

Larson ended his recruitment early by committing to play his college ball at South Dakota State. A 6-1 lead guard who plays with great pace, he's a heady player who understands angles, can score in bunches, and gets others involved at a really high clip. He's hands down the best player in the league and one of the easier selections for POY around the state.

The future South Dakota State Jackrabbit had a huge sophomore season, leading the conference in scoring and assists. A high IQ guard who can fill it up from all three levels who will be asked to do even more for the Midgets this season after the graduations of the next six scorers from last year's team.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1367449' first='Tyler' last='Voss'] (Spirit Lake): 17.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals, 64.2 FG%

Voss was the only player in the conference to average a double-double last season. A physical, efficient forward, he shot over 64% from the floor as a junior and will form with [player_tooltip player_id='956890' first='Jake' last='Wallin'], who is transferring in from South O'Brien, to give the Indians the best one-two punch in the conference.

2023 Owen Olson (Spencer): 11.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 49.2 FG%, 43.4 3P%

A 6-0 off-ball guard, Olson shot the ball really well last season, knocking down over 43% of his 3-point attempts as a junior. A pair of double-figure scorers graduated, as did another who averaged 9.4 points a game, so a lot will be expected of Olson as a senior. Expect him to put up some big numbers.

A mobile 6-7 big man, Wallin transferred to Spirit Lake from South O'Brien, where he was a strong three-year varsity contributor. He protects the paint and is an excellent rebounder and finisher around the rim. Adding a player with his size and skill set will be huge if Spirit Lake wants to contend for the Lakes Conference championship this season.

2025 Dylan Stecker (Spirit Lake): 7.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 48.2 FG%

A 6-3 wing who put together a strong freshman season for the Indians, ranking second on the team in both scoring and rebounding. He has good size and length and showed the ability to score from all three levels. He'll be a key piece for a Spirit Lake team that will be among the more improved teams in the area.
