Coming in as the top overall guard in Columbus. The Marshall commit fills all the needs that college coaches look for size, shooting, playmaking and defending. Ryan uses his body and frame really well to not only attack the basket but also to post up smaller defenders around the rim. The four year varsity player has developed year after year and proved he can step up in the big moments. The senior is in position to have a big year and is looking to help his Celtics get over the hump to a district title win.
Probably one of if not the best pure bucket getters in Columbus, Elias can simply fill it up in a wide variety of ways. He’s money on catch and shoot and off the dribble from either mid range or beyond the arch, he also can beat you and get downhill for an easy finish. I was more impressed with his athleticism over the years, this past summer I saw a play ran for a backdoor lob that worked out perfectly. Also one thing to note is that Elias is extremely unselfish he plays off of his teammates well, rather that being AAU or school ball Elias doesn’t need the ball in his hands all the time to impact a game. The four year varsity player has a team set up for a deep playoff run which he hopes to bring the school’s first ever district title.
Coming in at #3 Arness always catches people’s eyes when he puts his skills on display. Super athletic and one of the fastest guys on the court, he uses a combination of speed and shiftiness to really break down defenders for an easy blow by. Playing for All Ohio Red should only elevate his game as he’s playing against some of the top competition out there. With Pick North losing some key guys, i’m excited to see how the sophomore handles himself as the lead guy for his squad, with one D1 offer already (Ohio University) Arness can really take a leap with a breakout season.
Next up we have Cade Norris Cade Norris 6'3" | PG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH , the 2024 stud has one of the cleanest shots in the city. You won’t see too many guards do what Cade does, he has a very nice inside out game and can fill up the stat sheet on any given night. He’s very well rounded and ties that together with a high basketball Iq on both sides of the ball. Averaging 16 ppg as a sophomore that number should only go up, already having an offer from Wright State. If Cade continues to be a problem for opposing teams we could really see a ramp up in his recruiting process.
At #5 is Dom Aekins, the best guard in the city league is a very exciting player to watch. Yes he might be undersized but he’ll give anyone buckets, he excels at finishing through contact despite only being 5’9 he actually embraces it. I’ve seen him a handful of times over this past summer, playing for the All Ohio Red squad and he left spectators asking who’s this kid? Making first team all city league as a sophomore, Dom is only going to continue to ball out and hopefully bring a city league title to E Livingston Ave.
