We’ll take a look at some of the standouts from all over the country, and you can see all of the CP3 Rising Stars games on The CBG Live Network.
Here we take a look at some of the standouts from the DMV and VA!
Cameron Ward Cameron Ward 6'6" | SF Largo | 2025 State #30 Nation MD | 6’7” F | Largo (MD) 2025
Ward has already shown that he’s one of the top young prospects in the DMV, and he came to CP3 and showed he can get it done against some of the best in the country as well as he was named to the Top 20 game and had a good showing as well. The 6’7” forward is a big wing who can put it on the deck and create in isolation situations, he attacks the glass hard for extra opportunities and he’s just a dude who plays with a good motor and knows how to get to spots and score it in bunches.
Bobby Montgomery Bobby Montgomery 6'5" | SF Mt. Zion | 2025 State #229 Nation MD | 6’6” PF | Mount Zion (MD) 2025
Montgomery is coming off of a good summer with DC Premier 15U and he should have a big time breakout year at Mt. Zion if the way he played at the camp was any indication. The 6’6” power forward already has a great frame and he gets downhill aggressively where he can rise up and put it down over help side defenders, he plays with a great motor and is always sprinting the floor and fighting for rebounds and he’s unselfish and showed good playmaking ability and vision for his position too.
Brayden Hawthorne | 6’5” WG | Jackson-Reed (DC) 2025
Hawthorne is a native of WV who came in relatively unknown but that didn’t last long as he showed he was one of the best shooters in the camp and at his size he’ll turn a lot of heads with college coaches moving forward. The 6’5” two guard has great length to get shots off with little to no space, he gets set quickly on the move and is able to square up and knock down shots and he’s no slouch as an athlete who can defend as well.
Nate Ament Nate Ament 6'8" | SF Highland | 2025 State #12 Nation VA | 6’7” F | Colgan (VA) 2025
Ament is a player I knew very little about until late in the summer and finally got to put eyes on at the CP3 camp, and I have to say he could be one of the breakout players in the NOVA area this year as he has a lot of tools that make him a mismatch and an intriguing prospect moving forward. At 6’7” he’s versatile as he can knock down shots and put it on the deck, he plays with a good motor and rebounds and fights for extra opportunities and he played very consistently on his way to the Top 40 game.
Kosi Mgbejifor | 6’10” C | Catholic (VA) 2026
There are quite a few players in the 2026 class in VA that have already shown impressive tools, but Mgbejifor has everything to be super special as he is already very big and he moves extremely well for his size. At 6’10” he can run the floor like a guard, he’s super explosive and he rebounds in traffic and when he gets it in the paint he can dunk almost everything and he’s an elite shot blocker already and has so much room to get better moving forward.
Carmelo Swinson Carmelo Swinson 6'2" | CG Norcom | 2026 State VA | 6’0” PG | IC Norcom (VA) 2026
Swinson is another impressive young prospect out of the 757 to keep an eye on as the 6’0” point guard has a great skillset and the ability to score it in bunches when he gets it going. He’s surprisingly shifty for his frame as he can get in the lane and he has creative moves and finishes in traffic, he can create space and knock down shots from deep and has effortless range from deep and he makes the game look very easy when he gets it going.
