It is a talented group ready to make their case for the best guards on the Eastside. These are the names to look out for in the 2024 class.
No. 1 | This guy plays with the confidence of someone who’s been in those high-leverage situations and has no issue being the one to make a play. Even last season as a sophomore for one of the top teams in the state, Forrest could consistently be counted on to make plays no matter the stakes. He brings focus and energy to each possession and is an impact player on both sides of the ball. He looks ready to take the reins and lead Mt Si to another spectacular season.
No. 2 | Hennig’s season was cut short last year but he had already proven he’s one of the higher-rated guards in his class, with an all-around game that’s accentuated by his length and athleticism. He shoots the three well, is a good secondary ball-handler, and has the quickness and length to be a tough defender. He and Forrest make up one of the more talented backcourts in the state and could push towards another state title run.
No. 3 | Blackmon has shown the ability to be a high-volume scoring guard. He’s a great shooter who has easy range and is equally skilled getting to the rim and finishing through contact. One aspect of his game that seems underrated is his strength. Blackmon is a big guard that can play both spots. His quickness and strength in getting to the rim have also translated to a growing impact on the defensive end. He had a big role for Juanita last year and should have an exciting season in store this winter.
Highlights
No. 4 | Harris has an interesting winter ahead with four senior guards on the Chargers’ roster. Harris is too talented not to play and showed some explosiveness that can energize teammates. He plays with aggression that is contagious and is the type of player who can set the tone not just for his team, but the game as a whole.
No. 5 | Kanhukamwe finds himself in a similarly crowded backcourt but could have a path to a starting spot. He’s sandwiched between seniors Kayden Lamebull-Ingraham, Nikita Tyukalo Nikita Tyukalo 6’7″ | CG BFL Prep | 2024 State WA , and freshmen Alex Elston Alex Elston 6’1″ | PG Eastside Catholic | 2025 State WA , Tate Dawson Tate Dawson 6’1″ | CG Eastside Catholic | 2025 State WA , Noah Coffaro Noah Coffaro 5’11” | PG Skyline | 2025 WA , and Alex Amaral. Kanhukamwe showed last season he brings high effort on both sides of the ball, and over the summer he’s shown a much improved offensive game scoring the ball, and specifically shooting the ball. He provides a unique skill set and elite quickness that should help him carve out a big role on a talented team.
