Dawson has been playing well the last couple of games and kept up his hot play off the bench against Rainier Beach on Tuesday night. He’s attacking the hoop with force, using a great jab on the perimeter to open up driving lanes, and has been getting to two feet near the hoop to deal with contact or shift around shot blockers. He also hit a couple of 3s in the loss against Rainier Beach and should be a key player for Eastside Catholic as they enter the postseason.

Dawson wasn’t as explosive as some of the other playmakers in this article, but he did stand out for his ability to grind out possessions in the half court. He’s a kid who has the strong, secure handle to dribble all through the defense, prodding for looks and staying patient. He’s really good getting in and out of his moves and has a deep enough bag to fool defenders with crosses and hesitations. Dawson was really good in the pick and roll and using his dribble to create passing lanes to guys near the hoop.

Tate stood out with his nice ball-skills. He is a good ball handling guard which I noticed right away. He took care of the ball, and had some really good floor vision. He made some nice passes for buckets. He has some growing to do more than likely which will give him good length and the capability of playing the one or two.

Dawson plays such a steady and reliable role at both Eastside Catholic and Elite Prep. He has a great handle on the rock, can create action going to the hoop and limit turnovers in the process, and shows good strength finishing the play himself. He can defend the ball and looks like a player that just makes the right plays out there.
