The four week session featured Churchill, Sheldon, Willamette, North Eugene, Springfield, South Eugene, Thurston, and Marist Catholic. We were able to see the semifinals and finals. The South Eugene Axe brought home the crown. Here were a few standouts from:
Joey Banry Joey Banry 5'9" | PG North Eugene | 2024 State OR (2023 North Eugene)
The rising senior guard was a steadying force for the Highlanders this spring. Banry used his strong frame to consistently get into the lane and create for his teammates. One thing we noticed was his ability to throw crisp, fundamentally sound passes. He will not be playing on the grassroots circuit this July, but will be focusing on developing and building chemistry with his North Eugene teammates.
Landyn Bryant Landyn Bryant 5'9" | PG South Eugene | 2024 State OR (2025 South Eugene)
The Axe guard has the potential to be one of the top up and coming players in the valley. Word is that he is in the gym every morning with his Linfield standout and brother, Trey Bryant. He has also been spotted around town at local pickup games. Keep him on your radar this winter!
Cooper Case Cooper Case 6'4" | SF Churchill | 2023 State OR (2023 Churchill)
Case was one of the top players all spring and was phenomenal on the final day. He had half a dozen offensive rebounds for the Lancers against North Eugene. He also lead Churchill in scoring in the semifinals. His motor is elite and he can defend wings and bigs.
Bugsy Jensen Bugsy Jensen 6'1" | CG Churchill | 2023 State OR (2023 Churchill)
The Lancer guard is instant offense. He can get his shot off whenever he wants, using an array of solid step back and dribble attack moves. Jensen will be focusing on baseball during the month of July but look for Jensen to put up some big scoring numbers this upcoming season.
Luke Leighton Luke Leighton 6'5" | SF Sheldon | 2023 State OR (2023 Sheldon)
The Irish fell in the semi-finals to South Eugene but Leighton was still impressive. The super athletic stretch four has really progressed this spring. His range and agility are undeniable. Leighton could be Eric Orton’s go to scoring option at the end of games this season. He also holds multiple football but we would not be shocked if he receives a few basketball offers this fall.
Solomon Nice Solomon Nice 6'5" | SF South Eugene | 2023 State OR (2023 South Eugene)
Nice was a beast for the Axe on the final day of summer league. The wing was the driving force on both ends as the Axe took home the title. Nice looked comfortable and was aggressive in imposing his will against Sheldon and Churchill. He will be playing grassroots at the beginning of July with Oregon Prospects but then will be taking some time off with his family.
