Brawl for the Ball: 16U 4th Team Breakdown

July 2nd-3rd I attended the Brawl for the Ball Prep Hoops Circuit located at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. This is one of the last stops before the Hustle Region Finals on the July 15th-17th weekend in Seal Beach/CA. 

I focused on 16U but watched some 17U as well. 

There were 13 teams in the division so I made four All-16U Tournament teams featuring seven or eight players per team. 

Here is the 4th team breakdown of the eight players: (A lot of MOTOR in this group). 

4th team

Mason Hunt Mason Hunt 6'5" | SG Bradshaw Mountain | 2024 State AZ Bradshaw Mountain/AZ (D1 Nation AZ 2024) (Pictured) 

A thicker wing was D1 Nation’s three point shooter of the weekend. He hit two to three in each viewing. He has a sturdy frame he uses to get downhill and will dunk the ball easily. He plays a cerebral and physical brand of ball and he is handling ball pressure better.   

Ryan Dixon Ryan Dixon 6'5" | PF Valor Christian | 2024 State CO Valor Christian/CO (Team Revenge 2024)

A bouncy four-man with some strength and power. He works best in the painted area and plays so hard every possession. He will rebound in traffic and rise up in a crowd. He will straight line drive and throw it down way above the rim with his power impressively. 

Josiah Jones Josiah Jones 6'0" | CG St. Patrick-St. Vincent | 2024 CA-N St. Patrick-St. Vincent/CA (Team Rampage Elite 2024)

A tough and athletic guard with some pop. He works best from elbow and in and he brings his hard hat with a big motor. He is a tough on-ball defender tough and loves getting downhill.  

Nkongolo Wa-kalonji PF 6’4 2024 Grandview/CO (Colorado Premier 2024-2)

A thick and strong imposing power forward. He is all brawn and will score through contact. He plays with a big motor and aggressive play. He moves fairly well in space and give the Colorado team an inside presence. 

Cooper Creamer PF 6’3 2024 Chaparral/CA (IE Fire Elite 2024) 

A top inside out threat. He has a clean stroke to the three and will bang inside with bigger players using his girth and strength. He is smart off the pick and roll and will score on layups through contact. 

Owen Bugas Owen Bugas 5'11" | CG Archie Williams | 2024 State CA-N Archie Williams/CA (Team Rampage Elite 2024)

Shooter! A high IQ combo guard takes care of the ball and lets it fly when he is open from the three point line. He gives hard ball fakes and plays a cerebral brand of ball and he is a sneaky good passer.  

Vitorio Dante Vitorio Dante 6'6" | PF Castle View | 2024 State CO Castle View/CO (Colorado Premier 2024-1 

A unique forward who defends multiple positions. He can make the open three but is more of the point forward type. He sees plays happening and finds the teammate. His ability to defend a point guard then a post player makes him invaluable to the Colorado team.   

Donovan Larry PG 5’7 2024 Paloma Valley/CA (IE Fire Elite 2024)

An undersized PG who has a clip. He sees the court well and threaded the needle a few times. His consistency with the three ball makes his game go. He is a quick on-ball defender when engaged and is fast with the ball in his hands.
