Trey Perry Trey Perry 6'1" | PG Lakota East | 2025 State OH , 5’10 PG Lakota East 2025: Perry is a hard-nosed point guard who mixes it up on the inside despite his lack of size. Perry makes a lot of winning plays on both ends, whether it’s steals, offensive rebounds or getting after loose balls. Perry is also a very skilled point guard who has inconsistent moments of scoring the basketball. Perry gets great shots but left a couple bunnies on the table that he’ll want back. If Perry can become more efficient in the 5-15 foot range, he’ll drastically increase his scoring output as a Sophomore for one of the top squads in the GMC.
Damon Griffin Damon Griffin 5'9" | PG Reynoldsburg | 2025 State OH , 5’9 PG Columbus South 2025: Griffin was getting buckets all day in a variety of ways for Columbus South. Griffin was knocking down pull-up jumpers and had some impressive takes to the bucket. My most impressive play that he made was a scoop right-handed layup while falling away from the basket for an and-1 finish. I’d like to see Griffin work on his play-making skills as his scoring punch was tough to stop and defenses will likely start to key in on him defensively as a sophomore.
Arness Lawson Arness Lawson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2025 State #306 Nation OH , 6’1 PG Pickerington North 2025: Lawson had some dirty dribble moves in their game against Ballard (KY) that certainly caught my eye. I think Lawson was adjusting to his new look high school squad as he was a secondary option as a Freshman and not a primary scorer for All Ohio Red. This season, Lawson needs to be the guy creating shots for his team and I think that’ll come with time. Lawson is an elite defender and one of the best guards in Ohio’s 2025 class but for the Panthers to be great next season, he’ll need to take on more of a scoring role.
Jaiden Arnold Jaiden Arnold 5'10" | PG Cincinnati Aiken | 2025 State OH , 5’10 PG Princeton 2025: Arnold is one of the top scoring guards in Ohio’s 2025 class and was cooking against Indy Cathedral (IN) on Saturday. Arnold is great when he gets into the mid-range and floater area as that’s where he looks to get a majority of his looks. At his size, Arnold will likely need to expand his range from 15 feet to behind the 3-point line off the bounce. I certainly think Arnold has the skills and work ethic to make that improvement, so I’ll be excited to continue to track his shooting progression throughout the years.
Amare Spiva Amare Spiva 6'1" | CG Pickerington Central | 2025 State OH , 6’0 PG Pickerington Central 2025: Pickerington Central had a very short-handed squad on hand Saturday, but that allowed some new faces to step up. Outside of star Gavin Headings Gavin Headings 6'8" | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State OH , the guy I was most impressed with was Spiva. Spiva had a couple nice takes to the basket, finishing off of two feet. His shot takes a while to wind up, but he made some when he was left open. I’m hoping Spiva continues to develop and trust his jumper because with a reliable one he could be a very productive player even as a Sophomore for the Tigers.
Jekel Cotton Jekel Cotton 6'5" | SF Lima Sr | 2025 State OH , 6’4 SF Lima Sr 2025: Cotton is a sniper from downtown, forming a great shooting pair with fellow 2025 forward Jagger Hutchins Jagger Hutchins 6'6" | PF Lima Sr | 2025 State OH . Cotton made 3’s in both games that I caught, mostly from a catch and shoot position. I saw one 3-pointer where Cotton dribbled two or three times before pulling up and cashing it from 23-25 feet. I was impressed with Cotton’s shooting at his size and potential impact in transition. Cotton was the top new 2025 prospect that I watched and will debut in our rankings when they are updated next at the end of the summer.
