Continue ReadingThe June high school live periods kicked off this past weekend with tons of events getting underway all over the country, and one of the biggest ones was in the DMV area where DMV Live took place at the famous DeMatha High School in Maryland. The event featured some of the top private schools from Maryland and Virginia, and had hundreds of college coaches in attendance. We’ll have tons of content from the weekend, continuing with the 2025 standouts.
Malik Washington Malik Washington 6'5" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2025 MD | 6’5” PF | Archbishop Spalding
While Washington is known as a football recruit, he showed at DMV Live he’s a big time basketball player too and had college coaches thinking the same thing. The 6’5” forward is a big time athlete with long arms and finishing ability above the rim, he can put it on the deck get to the rim, he can knock down shots from the midrange and he rebounds very well over bigger players. He’s still pretty raw but has a good base skillset and plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor.
Cade Sebastian | 6’5” WG | DeMatha
Sebastian is a new face for DeMatha after a very good freshman season at John Champe, and he showed he could be one of the top shooters in the WCAC over the next few years. The 6’5” wing works well off the ball to get open, he has a quick release and deep range from deep and he has great confidence in his ability to knock down shots. He also plays with a lot of grit and makes hustle plays defensively and isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body to help his team.
Jaren Curtis Jaren Curtis 6'1" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2025 State MD | 6’1” WG | Bishop McNamara
Curtis had a breakout performance as a rising freshman at last year’s DMV Live, and he continues to show he’s one of the top young prospects in all of the DMV. At 6’1” he’s known as a big time shooter who can knock down shots, but he also showed he can put it on the deck and get in the lane to make plays for himself and others. Despite being about 6’1” he plays much bigger than he is, blocking shots defensively and rebounding in traffic, and he plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor.
Frankie Mannino Frankie Mannino 6'4" | SF Landon | 2025 State MD | 6’4” WF | Landon
Mannino is a very intriguing young prospect as he has great size on the wing and a budding skillset to go along with it as a mismatch wing who can make plays in a number of ways. He can make shots from deep off the catch, he can put it on the deck to get to spots where he can score it in the midrange and around the rim, he can rebound and defend multiple positions and he has a good IQ and feel for the game as well. He will be one to watch over the next few years for sure.
Tyler Jackson Tyler Jackson 6'2" | CG St. Frances | 2025 #40 Nation MD | 6’2” PG | St. Frances
Jackson is next up on a St. Frances team that has produced a number of very talented guards over the past few years, and he had a breakout performance at DMV Live 2. He is toughness personified as he brings it on both ends and keeps coming at defenders, he’s quick and shifty off the bounce and is able to get to spots in isolation situations and he can knock down shots from deep when he’s left open. He’s just scratching the surface with how good he can be and should be one of the top guards in the BCL over the next few years.
Jacob Ross Jacob Ross 6'5" | SF Long Island Lutheran | 2025 State #134 Nation NY | 6’5” WF | St. James
Ross is one of the top young players in northern MD, and he showed flashes of brilliance as he made a number of plays that were very impressive as he just continues to improve every time we see him. He has good size and is a good athlete for his age, he can put it on the deck and is shifty to get in the paint and finish and he can make shots from all three levels consistently. He’s going to be a very highly recruited player much like his older brother Jayden who recently committed to UConn.
