Part 1 of 2 in a series featuring 10 of Washington’s top shooters from the class of 2023. These players all have proven the ability to light it up offensively, and are some important names to keep in mind:

[player_tooltip player_id="1270732" first="Luke" last="Brewer"], 6’2, Guard, Tumwater

One of the deadliest off-ball shooters in the state, Brewer put together an excellent 21-22’ season and led Tumwater to a fourth place finish in the 2A state tourney. He shot over 40% from the 3-point line, good for 17.9 points a game and displayed elite shooting ability. He’s smart with his shots and excels at coming off screens, relocating, and setting and firing quickly before defenders have a chance to put a hand up. You can tell he has his balance down as a set shooter, he can raise up and shoot it with little space around him, while being able to collapse defenses and find others (4 apg). Expect the consistency to continue for him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1155898" first="Jaedyn" last="Brown"], 6’3, Guard, Pullman

I don’t think there was anyone hotter from 3-point land than Pullman’s [player_tooltip player_id="1155898" first="Jaedyn" last="Brown"] this high school season. Setting the Greyhound’s season record with 109 3s made, he shot them at a scorching 50% on the year (22.2 ppg) and showed he whole package in that department. After watching him a lot during his sophomore season, you can tell he’s put in the reps to become a great shooter and showed major signs of improvement. The confidence he has with his jumper is next to none, even when standing multiple feet behind the line. Off-ball and on-ball, he’s a chore to have to fly around and guard for opposing teams and has the lane driving capability too. With a thin frame, he has length at 6’3 and moves so well around the court on each possession.

[player_tooltip player_id="923116" first="Jamari" last="Jackson"], 6’1, PG/SG, Franklin

A gifted shooter and scorer, Jamari has been moving up the ranks as one of Washington’s best shooters with his ability to cook and heat up in a hurry, making players pay for leaving him open. He uses his quickness off the dribble to open up space and let it fire from deep and draws tons of attention from opposing defenders when the ball is in his hands. A capable 20+ point scorer (19.5 ppg, 6 apg) who’s capable of dropping 30 on any given night for Franklin High this past season, he showed the ability to go toe-to-toe offensively with other top guards in the Metro League and is a big name to keep an eye on to have a breakout senior season and summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="923118" first="Christian" last="King"], 6’7, Forward, Seattle Prep

[player_tooltip player_id="923118" first="Christian" last="King"] came through as a shooter time and time again for Seattle Prep, particularly late in the Panthers state tournament run, where he was oftentimes the primary option from deep and could be counted on for multiple 3s per night. At 6-foot-7, King’s high release point on his jumper is very tough to contest when he shoots it with confidence. He can drift to either side and still nail shots with ease. Mainly an off the ball shooter, he’s a threat from around the whole ring and he’s showed the ability to pull up off the dribble and convert shots that way. He’s in line for a bigger role as a senior to show even more, with star teammates [player_tooltip player_id="674424" first="Braeden" last="Smith"] (Colgate) and [player_tooltip player_id="674421" first="Tyler" last="Mrus"] (Alaska Fairbanks) set to move to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="923106" first="Luke" last="Browne"], 6’6, Forward, Gig Harbor

When it comes to size and shooting ability, Luke is your guy. He really came to light late in the season, helping Gig Harbor make a deep run at state. One of his major attributes is using his strength to create space in the mid-range area. The turnaround jumper from the elbow is automatic, and he pairs that with the ability to step outside on pick and pops, making people pay for going underneath screens. He has strong offensive fundamentals, especially with his footwork on the perimeter and shooting form. There’s a lot to like about his game, and is someone who could jump even higher on our 2023 rankings.
