Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
King looks to have a heavy workload ahead of him this season, scoring the ball and doing more playmaking. However, he looked more than prepared to take on that responsibility Saturday. He wasn’t just pouring in threes and mid-range jumpers; he was doing it while constantly contested and swarmed by defenders. King showed some umph too, finishing strong at the rim and playing with determination at both ends of the court. He will be needed to do a lot this season and should start to show there is a lot more to his game than just shooting.

This is one of the more exciting guys to key in on heading into the hoops season. He deferred a lot last season with two top players on his team but also came up with buckets in big games and big moments. King has grown his game since last season and will be ready for some good battles in the Metro League this winter.

The 6’8 shooter from Seattle Prep also recently committed, staying home to play for Coach Hopkins and the Washington Huskies. King elevated his game this summer after earning a reputation for strictly shooting in the 2021-22 season. He’s expanded his game and is ready to take the lead now that Braeden Smith and Tyler Mrus are gone. They’ve got some young talent coming up so look for King to flash some more playmaking skills this season and still shoot the lights out.

King is not only one of the tallest shooters on this list, but he also has some of the highest arc on his shot. His height, high release, and big arc, make his shot one of the hardest to contest and plays a big role in his consistency from long range.

No. 2 | King was a name floating around last season as someone who could emerge as a top player, and he has done just that. He is a knock-down shooter who has a shot just about anytime he wants it. He’s busted out this summer getting offers from Lehigh, Pepperdine, UCSB, and Seattle University. His stock is rising fast and this season is finally his chance to be the go-to guy.

King brings an element to the long-range shot that a lot of players simply can’t offer, size. At 6’7 he is almost always able to get his shot off and that is why he is such a factor when the offense breaks down and someone needs to create a look. King has that textbook high-arcing shot with the release point way over most defenders. He’s been super effective all summer and shown an increased ability to make room off the dribble and get his shot off. The catch and shoot has long been a part of his game but his ability off the dribble has helped his game grow immensely over the summer.
