LA
has a High Major future in both football and basketball. Green was the weekend’s most dominant player. Blessed with a great frame, packed with strength, Green also has elite hands and feet, especially for his size. He runs the floor, often times starting the break himself. Green handles like a guard. He creates off the dribble, getting downhill and finishing through contact with ease. The lefty can also stretch out the defense with his three-point shot, but don’t expect Green to bail out defenses by floating to the perimeter often. Trey’Dez is a willing banger that will punish opponents on the low block with his physicality and footwork. He seals hard and has a quick spin baseline. Green went for 29 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block vs. the 901 Ball Stars and finished off the weekend with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks against Excel Basketball. Green is special.
2024 5-9 PG Kheiri Haynes – LA Broncos 2024
I loved what I saw out of Kheiri Haynes. He doesn’t need to score often to make a difference. He’s a sharp playmaker that makes everyone around him better. His court vision and flashy passing lead to easy points. When he does look to score, Haynes can hit the three off the bounce and is a crafty finisher that uses either hand in traffic. The pass-first point guard is a true floor general.
2024 6-4 W Cameron Catholic – Excel Basketball
There is a lot to like about Cameron Catholic’s game. He shows flashes of a high upside. He’s a long swingman that can attack inside and out. He handles the ball well on the perimeter has a nice three-point shot. When Catholic has a smaller man defending him, he knows to post up to exploit the mismatch. Cameron is an active rebounder that crashes hard. He finishes with both hands inside and defensively can guard multiple positions. Catholic is starting to scratch the surface of his potential. He should be a stock-riser over his final two seasons.
2024 6-5 F Paul Walthall – Excel Basketball
The size, length and strength of Paul Walthall sticks out. He’s got a tremendous build and has already been in the weight room. He’s a fluid athlete that has combo-forward capabilities. Paul is able to push the ball in transition where he either finishes at the rim or with a floater. Walthall is a competitive rebounder and is a steady rim protector that alters shots. He’s an interesting long-term prospect.
2024 5-11 G Davon Aikens – Excel Basketball
Davon Aikens can get red-hot from deep. He buried six threes en route to 20 points against the Florida Kings. Aikens scores off the catch and is able to pull-up off the dribble from beyond the arc. His activity and confidence are positive traits.
2024 5-10 PG Carter Hicks – Excel Basketball
Hicks brought the energy on Sunday morning. Listed at 5-foot-10, Carter is an aggressive guard. He gets on the glass and plays with pace in transition. Hicks can take his man off the dribble and jump stop on two feet before making a decision. He has a nice 8-foot jumper from the dunker spot. Hicks finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds Sunday morning.
