Kadyn Betts of PLUTO Prospects (CO). From Ryan James: “I believe we are on the verge of seeing a massive four months of recruiting from Kadyn Betts. At his size Betts possesses so many qualities that the modern day big man needs: relentless rebounder, good defensive footwork closing out to shooters and to his deep help to contest/block shots, a comfortable perimeter touch with good footwork on the perimeter, the right size at 6’9 and a constant work ethic, and loyalty (yes loyalty which says something about his character and his work ethic). We believe this is a top 100 prospect and the way Betts played against Dallas Showtyme UAA and other teams in OKC leading his team to a 4-0 record, he backed that up and then some. Had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Showtyme win but even bigger was the defensive rebounding domination at times and key scores (perimeter jumper and lob dunk finish) during a big second half run.
Ahmere Carson of EG10 (IN). From Scott Burgess: “Carson went for 45 points in their Sunday morning game against D1 Indiana. Stocky left handed scoring guard that drained six from distance in this game. Didn’t get much elevation on his shot, but they went in. Not the most explosive athlete rather he uses his crafty ball handling and strength at the rim to finish through contact. Tough kid originally from Chicago now playing his ball in Indiana.”
Tate Petersen of Iowa Mavs. From Grant Matheny: “Even though his team lost a heartbreaker in overtime, I thought that Petersen played well. The 6-foot point guard is one of the top prospects in Iowa’s 2023 class and he certainly played like it. A confident shooter, terrific passer, and overall solid floor general, Petersen was no doubt one of the better players in the gym on Sunday. He was able to score 14 points in the losing effort. “
Caleb Tinker of Team Eleate (CA). From Ryan James: “The 6’10 Tinker missed two shots in the two games I watched him play. 15 of 17 shooting in those contests. My favorite part was surely the floor run into the deep position and then one of the better low post holds on the block that you will see. The low post position hold was so good I went back to the high school season to see if it was there as well and it’s all over Caleb’s highlight clips. Excellent floor run, some of the best low position targets offered you will see, and a high percentage finisher that turned over each shoulder to score. And… Tinker is also an excellent 6’10 pitching prospect on the baseball field.”
Kordrick Turner of Dallas Showtyme. From Ryan James: “In the past two weeks Turner has played against some top teams and had high scoring double-double efforts leading Showtyme. The first thing to know is this is a strong, hard working big man that moves others with his leverage and gets ahead of opposing players because of his effort. Love how physically he plays and Turner is a seven low post basket a game guy who also gets to the foul line as teams have to foul him to slow him. Sets a mean screen as well. “
