The second-leading scorer in the freshman class, Tanner Braketa, put on a scoring show at Fairview. Tanner put up big points especially in their first nail-biter overtime game scoring 29 points. He also hit clutch shots for his team, hitting the game-tying 3 to send them into overtime. Once again Tanner has proved he plays above his age level already leading a good Ralston Valley team. Tanner has great height for a guard already and this allowed him to hit a ton of tough shots. He has also shown flashes of being a very good passer in the most recent game.
Garret Barger- Eaglecrest
Garret Barger has been looking like a player with a huge upside. For a big man, he already has solid height (6’7) and better hands than most guys his height. Garret moves super quickly for a big and is a great rim runner on fastbreaks. Also on opposing teams’ fastbreaks, he had a few chase-down blocks. Near the rim, Garret has a soft touch, combined with his soft touch makes him a good post guy and putback scorer. Garret is going to be a matchup nightmare as his game keeps developing.
Bekkem Kritza- Fairview
The freshman quarterback standout Bekkem Kritza also has been standing out on the hardwood. Bekkem has great height standing at 6’4 and moves like a wing. Already this season we have seen him throw down a few dunks. He also aggressively attacks the offensive boards and even pulled down a double-double in the first game. Bekkem also uses his height to be a good roller in pick-and-roll situations. His length and great athleticism allowed him to finish some tough shots near the rim.
Gavin Whitehead- Legend
Gavin Whitehead was a player who showed huge flashes of potential. Gavin handles the ball very well and has shown some point guard abilities. He has some great quick decision moves that often shook defenders. From mid-range extended Gavin’s jumper looked great, he has a consistent quick shooting stroke. Also, Gavin towered over other guards as he has great height standing at 6’3. I was very impressed with his game as he is already showing flashes of being effective on or off-ball.
Ladavian King- Eaglecrest
Ladavian King has already been starting for his team as a freshman and on one of the top teams in the state. Ladavian has shown the ability to be a great role player for Eaglecrest. From 3-point range, Ladavian’s shot has looked good in spot-up situations. He also has been a good rim runner and uses elite athleticism to finish at the rim.
