Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6'5" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI (6’5 2024 W, St. Thomas More)- The sophomore wing was in full attack mode on Sunday morning, as he seemed to be scoring just about any time he wanted to. At 6’5 he has plenty of length on the wing, and a versatile skillset that allows him to hurt you in a number of ways. His change of direction allowed him to get into the paint off the dribble and finish with touch, but he was also pulling up from three and mid-range when given too much space. Amari excels at grabbing a defensive rebound and then launching a deep outlet pass to a sprinting teammate to get an easy lay-up. McCottry also showed off some improved explosiveness with a handful of dunks on the day.
Kenny Garth Kenny Garth 6'2" | CG Westosha Central | 2022 State WI (6’2 2022 G, Westosha Central)- Kenny showed why he may be the most under-recruited player in the 2022 class, as he’s a high level athlete with the skills to match. Garth is an unselfish player but also knows when to take over a game with his scoring ability. In a win over De Pere he dunked all over a defender in transition, and then against Whitnall added a transition dunk with a 6’9 defender contesting. In the half-court he has such a shifty crossover move to get his defender leaning one way before attacking the basket. He also found success as a passer, leading his teammates to the basket after some hard backdoor cuts.
Owen Pawlikowski Owen Pawlikowski 6'3" | SG Kimberly | 2022 State WI (6’3 2022 W, Kimberly)- The Saint Leo committed wing put in some well rounded performances for Kimberly on Sunday. You’ll rarely see Owen make a mistake as he’s such a composed and well coached player on the floor. Capable of guarding taller players because of his strength, but he’s also an impressive athlete who can move his feet with guards. Against Racine Case he picked up a steal that led to a transition slam, and was also a catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc.
Ethan Wall-Atim Ethan Wall-Atim 6'4" | PF Notre Dame De La Baie Academy | 2023 State WI (6’5 2023 PF, Notre Dame Academy)- Ethan was a two-way standout with his physical style of play in the two games I saw. He may not have a ton of length compared to some other forwards at 6’5, but he plays much bigger than his size. Ethan is like a brick wall defensively as he’ll refuse to give up an inch of space in the post, but is agile enough to sit in a stance and move his feet on the perimeter. Really liked his face up game offensively as he would catch, face up with the basket, and then use a jab-step to create some space for a short jumper or attack the basket with one/two dribbles. Really versatile player who’s just starting to scratch the surface.
Sekou Konneh Sekou Konneh 6'6" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State WI (6’7 2024 F, St. Thomas More)- Though he’s still pretty raw, I liked the improvements that Sekou has shown since the summer. His shot selection was a lot better, and that allowed him to score with efficiency as he was earning some high percentage looks around the basket. Not many players his size get off the floor as quick as he can, which allowed him to swallow up some offensive rebounds and then quickly go back up to finish. Sekou was running the floor hard for transition buckets in the two games I saw, and was also guarding just about every spot on the floor. Can go from moving his feet with a guard 30 feet away from the basket, to swatting a shot off the backboard inside.
Amari Jedkins Amari Jedkins 6'7" | PF Racine Case | 2022 State WI (6’8 2022 PF, Racine Case)- Amari helped to lead Case past a tough Kimberly squad, and scored arguably the two biggest buckets of the game. With just a minute left in regulation Amari took a dump off pass and elevated for a two hand slam to tie the game up. Then in sudden death OT, Amari fought for an offensive rebound and then scored through contact to give his team the win. Throughout the two games Amari flashed some versatility on offense as he knocked down a few jumpers, scrapped for tough buckets inside, and also handled the ball coast-to-coast for some transition buckets. Athletic forward that can guard a handful of spots defensively, and has a high ceiling to continue to improve.
John Kinziger John Kinziger 6'0" | CG De Pere | 2023 State #257 Nation WI (5’11 2023 PG, De Pere)- The De Pere product was putting up strong scoring numbers for De Pere against Whitnall on Sunday. He plays with no limit of confidence, as he knows he can score just about any time he wants to at the high school level. Johnny hit some tough, contested pull-up jumpers from the mid-range, and also got into the lane for a nice floater with seconds remaining in the first half. Competed hard on the defensive end to limit scoring from Whitnall’s backcourt while also making plays scoring and facilitating in transition.
