A lot of coaches and fans have been introduced to these players as Freshman and at the 15U level, but we expect to see these players become household names this season. This series hopes to get our readers ahead of the hype.

, 6’4 SG Chaminade Julienne 2024: Powell came out strong as a Freshman, leading CJ to the final four in Division II where he shined against Columbus DeSales. That introduction was super impressive and Powell continued to show why he’s one of the best prospects in his class with All Ohio Red. Powell is a natural scorer who can create his shot for himself. He showed he can score against some elite competition already. I’m looking for improvement from Powell as a play-maker and defender as a Sophomore. Already a lot to like about Powell’s game, I expect him to be one of the better players from the Dayton area regardless of class as a Sophomore.

, 6’3 SG Ottawa-Glandorf 2024: White might be a little under the radar due to his location around the state and playing for a non shoe circuit grassroots program, but make no mistake, he’s one of the top prospects in the state for his class. White has an incredible feel for the game, the way he uses pivots and fakes to create space is elite. White is a really good athlete, having multiple games with 3-4 dunks this summer. I think White has shown tremendous growth as a leader for Ottawa-Glandorf, after playing a complimentary role to some seniors as a Freshman, he was absolutely dominant this summer for the Titans.
Jonas Nichols Jonas Nichols 6'3" | SG Hoban | 2024 State OH , 6’3 SG Hoban 2024: Nichols was another Freshman who blew me away the first time I watched him. Nichols was playing on the road against St Edward and looked super comfortable. Nichols was using his strength and patience to get whatever he wanted. I cooled a little on Nichols during the grassroots season as some of his weaknesses as an athlete were more prominent. I think if Nichols can get quicker without losing his strength advantage, he’d be a lot more successful against EYBL level athletes.

, 6’2 SG Saint Ignatius 2024: Jackson is one of three Saint Ignatius prospects we’ve already covered in this series. I like Jackson’s ability to play off ball with cuts and attacking closeouts. Jackson does most of his damage as a slasher and from the mid-range, but his basketball IQ is what stands out the most to me. I’d like to see Jackson become a more consistent outside shooter to help space the floor for his other guards. With the amount of talent on Saint Ignatius, I’ll be seeing plenty of Jackson and the Wildcats this season.

, 6’2 SG Trotwood-Madison 2024: Yates absolutely dominated at the Coach Spears shootout this June with some of the best Division II programs in Central and SW Ohio. Yates was handing out buckets however you wanted that afternoon. I really can’t wait to see Yates this season as I wasn’t able to catch him during the grassroots season. After I watch him another time or two, I’ll have a better feel about Yates total package as a prospect. At this stage, I’m very intrigued by what he brings to the court.
