While I believe those are some of the favorites, other prospects might slip into my postseason list at the end of the year. You never know what players might step up due to injury or performance throughout the season.
Regardless, I believe the following players will get a chance to shine in the near future. Therefore, let’s get their names out there.
Jack Wigginton – North Broward Prep
I remember Jack Wigginton as his name was mentioned on the football side. A transfer from Long Island, Wigginton is a 5-foot-11 guard on the hardwood. The Eagles have some players in its backcourt with Boca Raton transfer Michael Kalina Michael Kalina 6'0" | PG North Broward Prep | 2022 State FL and Maximus Fuentes Maximus Fuentes 6'2" | CG North Broward Prep | 2022 State FL . I expect North Broward Prep to be a competitive team, so any sort of playing time Wigginton gets will be earned. Regardless, practices up in Coconut Creek will help his development. Wigginton is also learning from a former college player in coach Casey Wohlleb.
Joseph Jean – Keys Gate
Joseph Jean is a name to know all the way down in Homestead. Jean is a 6-foot-4 guard with offensive firepower. Of course, his size and length is already ideal for the position. Given his age, Jean could still grow a few more inches. Keys Gate has had some scoring guards over the past few seasons and Jean could be the next. I think he should have an advantage given his frame to attack the rim. He might be a good pick to grab some rebounds as well. Jean could make some noise down in the quieter part of the county.
Swaminsky Liberal/Esron Simeon – Stranahan
The Mighty Dragons have had a good string of guards over the past few seasons. Both Liberal and Simeon might join the ranks in the near future. Each player is about 5-foot-10 with some quickness. Their development is in good hands under a well coached system at Stranahan. Specifically, their practices are tough and go at game speed. In addition, the Mighty Dragons usually have a culture that everyone buys into. I would expect Liberal and Simeon to be a part of that mindset. Both are future prospects for Stranahan.
Benny Fragela – Columbus
Miami Columbus is going to have some serious talent for years to come. That should give 2025 shooting guard Benny Fragela plenty of opportunity to shine. The 6-foot Fragela can knock down shots from anywhere on the court. He’s also playing with prospects like Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, and Malik Abdullahi Malik Abdullahi 6'6" | SF Columbus | 2024 State FL . It’s hard to imagine these kids not developing. Columbus is going to have plenty of run and Fragela should take advantage of it.
Others to watch:
Allen Jules – Miami Norland
Jacob Marquez – Gulliver Prep
Mason Fuentes – Westminster Academy
Picking these three because they all play on good programs that are well coached. Miami Norland is under head coach Lawton Williams. The Vikings also have a solid core of talent led by 2024 Marcus Allen. Gulliver Prep has a similar core of young players and now have Ray Allen leading its charge. Westminster Academy is a tradition rich program under head coach Ehren Wallhoff.
