Preseason Player of the Year: 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682265" first="Trey" last="Campbell"], Cedar Falls

The recent Northern Iowa commit is one of the fastest players in the state with the ball in his hands, an excellent decision-maker, and a menace on the defensive end with his combination of size, length, and quickness. A 6-4 lead guard who has turned into a dangerous shooter as well, Campbell impacts the game on both ends of the floor for one of 4A’s best teams.

First Team

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="682265" first="Trey" last="Campbell"], Cedar Falls: 13.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals, 53.5 FG%, 38.6 3P%, 76.9 FT%

With Campbell’s size and quickness, he’s a very difficult player to defend at this level. When you combine that with the fact that he has really improved as a perimeter shooting threat during his high school career, good luck trying to slow him down. Look for him to average 17-18 points a game this season while still being a dynamic playmaking threat for his teammates.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956870" first="Dallas" last="Bear"], Cedar Falls: 5.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 41.7 3P%

A very talented shooter with great length, Bear held a Division I offer from Bryant before playing his first varsity game. He came off the bench for a hyper-talented Tigers team last year but will be relied upon to be a big-time scorer this season, and he should rise to that task without much difficulty. He has worked to improve his ability to create his own look, and with his size, he can get his shot off whenever he wants.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="962635" first="Jake" last="Walter"], Prairie: 16.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 46.2 FG%, 37.7 3P%

The leading returning scorer in the division, Walter is a strong three-level scorer for the Hawks. He improved his efficiency numbers tremendously as a junior, and will be the key piece for a Prairie team that should be one of the most improved teams in the state.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="784979" first="Elijah" last="Ward"], Prairie: 12.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.3 steals, 47.6 FG%, 83.3 FT%

A talented, slashing wing who is at his best when he’s playing downhill, Ward pairs well with the gifted Walter on the Hawks perimeter. He can shoot it from the arc, but is better when he’s attacking and using his quickness to get to the rim.

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="956880" first="Traijan" last="Sain"], Cedar Rapids Washington: 11.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.4 blocks

A high-upside wing with tremendous length, Sain was second on the team in scoring and rebounding last season, and should see both of those numbers elevate following the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="964836" first="Quincy" last="Underwood"]. He’s a great athlete with a developing skill-set and the ability to impact the game on both ends.

2022 Ben Freed, Wahlert Catholic
