Jackson Shelstad Jackson Shelstad 6'0" | PG West Linn | 2023 State #55 Nation OR (2023 West Linn)
We were expecting big things out of Shelstad, especially as he was fresh off an offer from Kansas. Credit the Tualatin defense as they really made things hard for him to get open looks, but the 6-foot guard did his best and still ended up with 17 points. He knocked down the open looks he did get and had some creative athletic finishes around the rim.
Zeke Viuhkola Zeke Viuhkola 6'1" | CG West Linn | 2022 State OR (2022 West Linn)
With the defense really focused on Shelstad, Viuhkola stepped up in a big way. The 6-foot-2 junior hit open jumpers as he usually does but really used his physical frame to get to the basket and finish. To no one’s surprise, the coach’s son played with a feel for the game and always made the right play at the right time.
Logan Law Logan Law 5'9" | PG Milwaukie | 2023 State OR (2023 Milwaukie)
It may be easy to overlook Law because of his diminuitive size at 5-foot-9. But Law is a gamer and he came up huge in Milwaukie’s comeback effort against Jefferson. He caught fire in the second half for 26 points, hitting deep NBA range threes and also getting to the hoop with zero fear against the Demos’ bigger players. Also a top level cross-country runner, Law was able to run the court tirelessly all game long.
Jaymeson Ye (2022 Westside Christian)
Ye is a great example of how elite athletes exist at the lower classifications of Oregon basketball. The 6-foot-2 junior is an incredible leaper and in Westside Christian’s win over De La Salle North, he also showed incredible speed and motor. The lefty knocked down some threes and created havoc with his athletic forays to the rim.
Kamir Hodge (2022 Westside Christian)
Hodge was a steadying influence for Westside Christian in their ’W’ over rival De La Salle North. He did a good job handling the Knights full court pressure and getting the ball to open teammates for scores. Blessed with a strong frame, he used that to his advantage on drives into the lane and also helping out on the boards. Hodge hit some big shots late to keep WCHS in front.
