Kenny Garth Kenny Garth 6'2" | CG Westosha Central | 2022 State WI (6’3 2022 CG, World Hoops Elite )- Kenny is the headliner for a solid World Hoops Elite team, bringing flashy production to the floor. He’s capable of playing from either guard spot as he has the handle to create his own shot while also getting into the lane and finding open teammates. Kenny is a flashy passer who can slip the ball into tight spaces and find his teammates in areas that most players wouldn’t be able to see. On the defensive end he can cause disruptions with his length, and he’s a major threat getting out in the open floor off of turnovers.
JR Lukenbill (6’4 2023 W, River City United)- Fresh off an impressive sophomore season with Burlington, JR Lukenbill will take the stage with River City United, a team comprised of all Burlington prospects. At 6’4 he has plenty of size and a strong frame on the wing, but most impressive is his versatility. JR can go from running the point on one play, to posting up opposing wings on the next. That versatility translates to the other end as his strength allows him to defend in the post while remaining agile enough to sit in a stance and compete on the perimeter.
DJ James (6’7 2022 F, Pride Roc 2022)- The Milwaukee prospect is one of the more intriguing players to watch for this weekend. At 6’7-6’8 he has a very long frame and the athleticism to make plays above the rim on both ends of the floor. He’s a hard working player who takes pride in boxing out and rebounding the ball at its highest point, and his athleticism allows him to switch on pick-and-rolls and be comfortable defending smaller players. Looking forward to watching him this weekend.
Darrien Long Darrien Long 6'5" | PF Racine Horlick | 2022 State WI (6’4 2022 F, Gallo Sports Center)- When it comes to the most explosive players in Wisconsin, Darrien’s name has to be in the discussion as he can elevate off two feet with the best of them. Though he may be a bit undersized as a forward, his ability to quickly elevate combined with a strong frame allow him to defend player 6’6+ comfortably. Outside of throwing down some impressive dunks, he possesses a consistent shot from mid-range and has shown some flashes of knocking down open threes. Darrien will have the chance to impress with another strong weekend of play in Waukesha.
Caiden Lecce Caiden Lecce 6'0" | CG Minneapolis Southwest | 2022 State WI (6′ 2022 G, DF Elite)- Caiden has been one of the bigger stock risers in the state this spring as he continues to produce at a high level for DF Elite. The sleeper prospect has a lot of toughness on the floor, and isn’t afraid to go at anyone on the court. He has the quickness off the dribble to attack the basket and the body control to finish some tough looks, but he can really make his money with his jump shot. Whether it’s beyond the arc or pulling up from mid-range, he’s a tough shot maker who can put up points in a hurry.
Dino Cook Dino Cook 6'4" | SF Kingdom Prep | 2023 State WI (6’5 2023 W, World Hoops Elite )- Another prospect seeing his stock rise this spring, Dino isn’t afraid to put points on the board, and he can do so in bunches. You can tell he puts in a lot of reps creating some go to moves, one of which is a shot fake into a one dribble pull up. Because he’s a threat from three, he’s able to get defenders in the air with that pump fake and then pick his spot in the mid-range to get off a clean look. When he goes to post up smaller wings, his baby hook shot is almost automatic in the lane, making him a threat inside and out. A hard working player who’s improved a lot over the past year.
Austin Wagner Austin Wagner 6'5" | SG Kettle Moraine Lutheran | 2022 State WI (6’5 2022 W, Chapman Basketball Academy)- Austin impressed me a couple weeks ago in Appleton, and he could be in for another strong weekend with Chapman Academy. He brings some size and solid athleticism on the wing, combined with a versatile scoring package. Austin also has to be accounted for as he moves well without the ball and gets his feet set and hands ready to shoot before catching. This Chapman Academy team is filled with size and they play well together, with Austin being a key piece for them.
