ATR Elite – David Hageman David Hageman 6'3" | PG Windsor | 2023 State CO
Hageman is a player that continues to impress us the more that we watch them as he is a swiss-army-knife type of player that provides a bit of everything for his squad. On day 1, in a new state, that did not differ as he was the top player on the floor in his game. Hageman has solid size, and you would expect for him to go on the block as well as play off of the ball, but he was the team’s primary ball-handler in the game. Hageman put teammates in positions to score, penetrated the defense, and kept the defense honest with his shooting. Hageman hit five 3-pointers in the game, which kept the defense guessing. They did not want to overplay as he would drop it off, and if they stepped back, he made them pay. He was the high scorer in the game and had himself an opening day party. He continues to rise.
Zane Miley – Colorado Titans
Miley is a player that we did not know a ton about heading into the event, but what we saw from the do-it-all guard on Day 1 certainly has us wanting more. Miley played with a sense of calmness and was always under control. He ran the offense to perfection, improvised and made plays when it broke down, and was always in the mix. Miley had a spurt in a hectic game where he was scoring with ease and being disruptive in the passing lanes. He ran the floor well, got his hands on bad passes, and sped guys up. He also opened up the floor with his outside shooting. He is a player who came off screens ready to shoot, created for himself off the dribble, and stayed aggressive. Loved what I saw from the guard on Day 1.
Ty Adam Ty Adam 6'8" | C Severance | 2023 State CO —ATR Elite
Adam is a player that we see more open up for the more times that we see him. Adam has plenty of parts to his game that you have to love like a motor, understanding where to be on the floor/ positioning, and also finishes at the rim. Adam is a legit 6’8 and appears to be still growing. He knows what to do with his size, alters shots at the rim, which keeps opposing teams away from the rim, and does not force the ball when he sees the double team coming. Adam did not take bad shots in the game. He let the game come to him, showcased his soft touch when he got it, and used his length and athleticism for finishes. He’s a player to watch, and he had himself a #PHLive debut.
Aliou Diallo Aliou Diallo 5'11" | PG Colorado Prep | 2023 State CO —Colorado Titans
Diallo is a guard who plays under control and is never sped up, and we saw that in Colorado Titans first game of the PHLive event. Refs let teams play physical in Kansas City, and that played to his advantage. Diallo broke down defenders off of the dribble and got downhill and attacked. He finished at the rim or penetrated the defense for kick-outs. Either the opposing guard had to give up a basket or foul, and that only helped his team gather momentum. Diallo sees the floor well, is an in-your-face defender that turned guys over, and he plays with high confidence. His team will only go as he allows them, so it was important for him to get himself going on both ends of the floor.
Luke Wagstaff Luke Wagstaff 6'8" | PF Fort Collins | 2023 State CO — Rocky Mountain Fever
Rocky Mountain Fever is a team that plays well off of each other, and that chemistry allows open baskets for teammates. In this game, Wagstaff’s ability to affect the game with his size made it difficult for the opposing team to defend down low, and his Fever team knew it. Wagstaff got the ball multiple times in the post and scored from the same spot – using the same move. He has excellent footwork on the post and is a big kid that is finesse around the rim. Wagstaff went on multiple mini-flurries scoring, grabbed every board that came his way, and instead of forcing the issue as he had the mismatch, rotated it until his team found something better. Wagstaff is a player that impressed in Day 1, and with how that Fever team plays, will continue having multiple guys stand out.
