Players to watch in the Mid Western League

<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Let’s take a look at some exciting players in the Mid Western League 5A division coming into this next season.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="857343" first="Samaje" last="Morgan"] (2022 Churchill) - Samaje was the youngest player to be selected first-team all-league a season ago as a Sophomore. Morgan has supreme quickness and uses that to his advantage on the offensive end blowing by defenders and attacking the hoop. On defense,  he gets into passing lanes to get easy steals. He is also a very unselfish player and drops easy dimes to his teammates racking up assists. When the defense leaves him open he’s got no problem knocking down threes. Morgan will look to take another step up this season with the Lancers and keep them atop the league standings.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="815599" first="Luke" last="Smith"] (2021 Willamette) - Shooter Alert! [player_tooltip player_id="815599" first="Luke" last="Smith"] is the definition of a knockdown shooter. Once he crosses over the half-court line he is in range and will let it fly. Earning second-team all-state in 5A and first-team all-league a season ago. He is a really skilled player on offense, Smith compliments his great three-point shooting with smart back door cuts if the defense overplays, along with possessing some moves inside the key. Luke has good hands which makes him a threat on defense as well. Smith looks to push the Wolverines to the top of the league while improving his resume from a season ago. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="642058" first="Trey" last="Bryant"] (2021 Springfield) - Is another first-team all-league selection on this list. [player_tooltip player_id="642058" first="Trey" last="Bryant"] is a real savvy point guard with the ability to hit from outside. Bryant has really good vision and doesn’t let anyone make him uncomfortable. Bryant is patient and waits for things to develop to make the right read. His lengthy frame helps him get steals and blocks on defense. Trey will look to lead the Millers past their fourth-place finish a year ago and place higher atop the league standings. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="855987" first="Hunter" last="Chubb"] (2021 Crater) - This Comet is a real high flyer, providing big dunks and big energy [player_tooltip player_id="855987" first="Hunter" last="Chubb"] is a player to watch out for this season. Chubb provides a good all-around offensive game complimented by his three-point shooting ability. His long arms help generate steals on defense and let the Comets push the ball up the floor quickly. Hunter looks to advance his game and help Crater stay near the top of the league even with their key losses from a year ago. </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="856002" first="Jose" last="Yanez"] (2021 Willamette) - [player_tooltip player_id="856002" first="Jose" last="Yanez"] and teammate [player_tooltip player_id="815599" first="Luke" last="Smith"] provide good compliments to each other’s game. He is also a good shooter from three-point range. He is really smart coming off screens and moving without the ball and catches his defenders off guard. Yanez likes to mix it up in the paint with his smaller size he isn’t afraid to attack the rim and draw contact. Like his teammate, Jose will look to boost the Wolverines over their crosstown rival the Lancers, and other teams in the league to claim the top of the standings. </span></p>
