The Washington Supreme (Purple) went 4-1 the Treasure Valley October Classic run by former BSU Bronco player Clint Hordeman and his Select Basketball program.

Coaches and Supreme players came away happy with their team’s performance and said the talent pool was the best they have competed against in this shortened circuit.

Players who had solid individual performances and continued to impress include [player_tooltip player_id="1046525" first="Josh" last="Pemberton"], [player_tooltip player_id="940529" first="Eddie" last="Brown"], John [player_tooltip player_id="1046516" first="John" last="Barbee"], [player_tooltip player_id="843735" first="Jalen" last="Barbee"], [player_tooltip player_id="940526" first="Jerry" last="Hayes"] and [player_tooltip player_id="929597" first="Connor" last="Drinkwine"].

2021 6’5 P [player_tooltip player_id="1046525" first="Josh" last="Pemberton"] (Emerald Ridge) had his best weekend with Supreme. Josh showed the ability to finish over taller players and his court vision allowed him to pass out of the post and he found open teammates with precise passes. He continued to take charges which makes him a valuable, tough defender.

2021 5’10 CG [player_tooltip player_id="940529" first="Eddie" last="Brown"] (Emerald Ridge) used his basketball IQ to be effective in a variety of ways. Brown displayed unselfishness as he continued to find open players so his team could have success. He also was a defensive force most of the weekend. His steady hand really allows his teammates to show out. He has a feel for the game and always seems to be in the right place at both ends of the floor.

2022 6’1 W [player_tooltip player_id="1046516" first="John" last="Barbee"] (Franklin Pierce) His physical tools continue to impress. The younger Barbees athleticism- specifically his speed in the open floor really stood out. Also he showed a desire to be a defensive stopper. More than once he took it upon himself to guard the other team’s top scorer and successfully stopped the opponents from making any comeback runs.

2021 5’11 PG [player_tooltip player_id="940526" first="Jerry" last="Hayes"] (Emerald Ridge) looked comfortable running the team and did a great job getting to the basket. The shifty guard did a great job attacking and drawing others to double team him creating wide open looks for his shooters. Hayes is showing growth in his game by forcing fewer shots, distributing more, and essentially being a more efficient point guard.

2021 6’1 SG [player_tooltip player_id="929597" first="Connor" last="Drinkwine"] (Emerald Ridge) is no longer just a streaky bomber- he is just a pure shot maker. He looks a bit taller and thicker than he did in the spring at Boss of Ball and he put the ball on the floor more this weekend and used a shot fake, dribble, and pull-up jump more than usual. But of course he still loves the three pointer and his quick release and consistency was shown throughout the weekend including a cold-blooded, NBA deep, game-winning three point shot in overtime. Drinkwine popped open off a screen and off a screen and despite everybody in the gym expecting him to take a three, he still managed to knock it down for the win.

2021 6’5 W [player_tooltip player_id="843735" first="Jalen" last="Barbee"] (Franklin Pierce) Jalen is the older brother of John, and he displayed a strong all around game. He is likely a three at the next level but was forced to play bigger on the short-handed Supreme team. He filled that role well! He led Suprem in rebounds and provided backside help as a shot blocker all weekend. Barbee has always run the floor well and this leads to dunks and easy baskets but this weekend he also displayed an increased confidence in his outside shot.
