Jameel Wright Jameel Wright 5'10" | PG Overland | 2021 State CO – Blazers
Wright is a player that it is difficult not to continue to write about because of the way that he plays and his production on the floor. Wright plays with complete control while he is on the floor and controls the pace for both teams. He is a poised guard that has a high basketball IQ and finishes with either hand. He also plays with a chip on his shoulder and with an edge. On Day 4, he was a guard to watch as he understands the game and is a guard that you can put into any situation.
Brayden Carter Brayden Carter 6'8" | PF Seiling Ok | 2021 State CO – Blazers
Carter continues to dominate in the Pangos event and show what makes him one of the best big men in the state. Carter finishes with excellent body control and has been revealing himself more as an athlete. He had a dunk down the lane and ran the floor well. Once he gets it on the break, he goes right up with it for easy layup attempts, and when his team has fed him, he has eaten. He can score the basketball and is a relentless rebounder with a high motor.
Eddie Mcphee Eddie Mcphee 6'6" | SF Geore Washington | 2021 State CO – Suns
McPhee did not have a big scoring day, but what he has been showing on the court is the ability to mix it up. McPhee is an aggressive downhill attacker that is going to the rim hard and is not to be denied. He had a finish through contact, and he also went to the FT line a couple of times as opposing guards are not able to contain him from getting inside and disrupting the defense. McPhee has also started to show that he can see the floor and keeps his dribble alive for easier scoring opportunities.
Keegan Phillips Keegan Phillips 6'7" | SF Douglas County | 2021 State CO – Kings
Phillips is one of the most improved players of the summer and continues to be productive in the Pangos events. Phillips is a stat stuffer that generates offense for his team. Phillips had back to back baskets, and once he gets into a groove, it is tough to slow him down. He can score the basketball in different ways and is a shooter that does not care how close the defense is. If he gets a look at it, it is a basket. Phillips finished with nine points and eight boards on the game. What I think stands out most is the fact that Phillips WANTS to defend. He does not care if it is a big or guard, and I also feel as if Phillips is the only player in the event that passes and screens away. He plays the right way.
Colton Gillingham Colton Gillingham 6'0" | CG Greeley West | 2021 State CO – Clippers
Gillingham had himself a day and looked more like the guard from Greeley West that terrorized the league last season. Gillingham is a scrappy player that gets after it on both ends of the floor. He scores in bunches, he hustles at all times and makes it extremely difficult for opposing guards to get anything going against him. Gillingham finished with 13 points in the game and also was a glass cleaner that started the break and pushed the pace. Gillingham got out in transition and also turned defense into offense by playing the passing lanes. Gillingham had multiple steals in the game and is a two-way player to watch moving forward that has been having a great summer.
Markus Ramirez – Clippers
Ramirez did not have a huge scoring day, but he did, however, have solid production in the game and stood out as a new name to know. Ramirez finished with six points in the game as he had a couple of floaters. He has good court presence and great spacing, and his baskets came in a mini-run. Ramirez makes things happen on the court and is a playmaking guard that causes a commotion when he has the ball in his hands. He takes care of the ball and is a threat on and off of the ball.
