Jameel Wright Jameel Wright 5'10" | PG Overland | 2021 State CO – Overland
In a setting where defense is not played much, it was refreshing to see a player get after it. Wright finished with four steals in only half of the game. He baited guards into passes and also had two strip steals as well in which he went full court for a finish at the rim. Wright also controlled the tempo on offense and did not force much, which is always great to see in these showcases. Wright came out of nowhere this summer and is showing he is here to stay as he is locked in on both sides of the ball.
Michael Wolf Michael Wolf 6'0" | PG Regis Jesuit | 2021 State CO – Regis
Wolf can certainly put the ball in the basket. He is a creative finisher that uses deceptive moves, creates space off of the dribble, and also can put the ball on the floor to get free. He is also a confident shooter that has a deadly midrange that separates him from other shooters. He gets to his spots on the floor and makes excellent decisions with it, and in the first game, he scored in various ways. Wolf is a guard that can play off of the ball but makes plays happen with the ball in his hands. He attacks off of screens, and his ability to play both inside and out has him as a dangerous option.
AJ Kula AJ Kula 6'5" | CG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO – Valor Christian
Everything about Kula is smooth, and he stands out on the floor initially because of his movements. He glides around the floor, and once he gets the ball in his hands, he is difficult to stay in front of as he seems to get by whoever it is he wants. Once he gets by them, he is an above-average finisher at the rim that comes with a crafty lay-up package. He kept getting by his man for finesse lay-ups or dishes to open teammates. He also has a solid handle for a player with his size and is comfortable with the ball in his hands. Once he chooses to continue to attack every play, he is going to open up a new part of his offense but was one of the better playmakers on the day.
Val Leone – Fowler
Leone was a player that we did not know much about but looked like a confident player and as if he belongs. It did not matter that this was some of the top players in the state, and he is not accustomed to the speed he made solid plays and had a couple of strong finishes. One play that stood out was him breaking down the defense and going up with a left-hand finish and coming down and making a screen assist on the next play down. He did not force too much and took the game seriously, so it was great to see him make a name for himself.
Amondo Miller Amondo Miller 6'6" | CG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO – Valor Christian
Miller had a couple of bully-ball finishes at the rim as he uses his size and strength to finish over smaller defenders. Miller is a player that wants the ball in his hands as he knows how to create for himself, and he attacks mismatches. Miller puts his head down and is a savvy isolation guard that uses his body. He got to the rim and finished amongst the trees but is also a playmaker that can decide to drop it off for an excellent finish. On defense, Miller moves his feet well and picks up all 94 feet. Another solid day for him.
