Langston Reynolds Langston Reynolds 6'4" | CG Colorado Prep | 2022 State #172 Nation CO – Denver East
Reynolds was one of the better defensive players on the day, and his work on that side of the ball opened up the rest of his game. Reynolds was picking up guards all 94 feet, and it is great to see a player with his size move the way that he does. He is physical on defense and plays the passing lanes, he does not allow the player he is guarding to get comfortable, and on offense, he is a relentless guard that attacks the rim. Reynolds has a great blend of strength and speed, and he combines that with being a physically gifted athlete. Reynolds had a few rim attacks, and what kept the defense honest was him dishing it off for open teammates. He demands so much attention that having awareness also will go a long way for him.
Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO – St. Mary’s
Howery is a true point guard that I felt could be put into any situation and thrive just because of the unselfish nature that he plays with. Well, that was on display yet again as he finished with countless assists to teammates and pushed the pace. He is a player that makes others around him better because he makes the right play. He is willing to make the extra pass and also hunt for a shot if he has it. Good balance to have. His team needed him to score a bit more, so he was aggressive looking for his own. He knocked down a 3-pointer and also had a couple of finishes at the rim as well. When he decides to take over more in games and score when he wants, it will open up the rest of his game, but all in all, a good showing.
Xavier Harris Xavier Harris 6'1" | PG Hillcrest Prep | 2023 CO – Horizon
Some showcases are an All-Star event where players don’t go at their friends; that was not the case for Harris as he went at whoever was in front of him, and I loved it. Harris made it a point to attack the basket in the first game, and he was successful in doing so. He finished with two first-half and-1 baskets and made the FTs. In the second half, he continued to get to the rim. Harris was fouled on almost every single shot attempt in the game and went to the FT line and capitalized. Harris has a real good feel for the game, and he also played defense in a setting that there was not much defense being played. He has started to up his game the last couple times that I have seen him and coming into his own.
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" | CG Mead | 2022 State CO – Mead
The sharpshooter from Mead is starting to get more comfortable getting to the rim and using his speed. He is a quick guard with a few go-to moves to free himself up and a quick release on his jumper, so it is either a shot or a move to the rim. In the first game, he was at the rim as he showcased the ability to make a series of moves that got him into a comfortable left-hand finish. He scored with confidence and moved without the ball, which freed himself up, and then later in the game, his shot started to fall. He was one of the leading scorers in the game, and the opposing team found out mistakes were made by having the people guarding him that they did.
