It’s time for our yearly team previews and today we continue looking at one of the newer programs in the state, the A-Train Oregon Magic. Based out of Central Point in Southern Oregon, the team actually is a blend of players from all over the state including some of the top prospects in the Classes of 2022 and 2023.
We previously looked at the Magic 16U team here. Huxley Martin Huxley Martin 6'8" | PF Benson | 2022 OR , Henri Perrin Henri Perrin 6'3" | SG Wells | 2022 State OR , and Junior Sleezer Junior Sleezer 6'2" | CG South Medford | 2022 State OR are playing with that squad but will have a larger role on the Select team. We caught up with A-Train Magic co-director Devin Price who gave us some insight on the rest of the roster of the Select squad:
Marcus Lee (2022 Lake Oswego) – Lee hit one of the most clutch shots of the year for Lake Oswego in a home win over West Linn. He’s a very good ball-handler and a hard worker on both ends of the floor.
Thomas Johnson (2022 Butte Falls) – Johnson will be the team’s glue guy. The 5-foot-10 guard can defend multiple positions and offensively, has strong body control and can score at all three levels. He plays with a high motor and will hit the boards.
Desmond Clayborne (2022 Butte Falls) – Claybourne is a lengthy wing at 6-foot-4 who can knock down open shots. He communicates well and takes initiative.
Jeremya Miller (2022 Jefferson) – Miller spent the majority of last season on Jefferson’s JV squad but made a varsity appearance late in the year. He’s a lefty combo guard who can handle and shoot it well.
Dylan Neufeld (2022 North Valley) – Neufeld was a key contributor on the North Valley varsity. He is a dynamic guard who can score in volumes and is a solid distributor.
Mikey Redondo (2022 Butte Falls) – Redondo is a quick guard with good defensive instincts. At 5-foot-7 he lacks some size but he will make hustle plays and play with a lot of heart.
