They also drew two quick fouls on Lutheran’s Baye Fall, one being a smart charge down low. This had Baye sitting out most of the first half. At the end of the first half Kent kept it close, only down by 6 points. Lutheran came out hot in the second half scoring 18 in the third and only allowing Kent to have 7. This momentum carried out into the fourth and Lutheran won 57-42, but Kent is a team who could surprise some 3A teams during playoff with how much they hustle.
Tommy Apodaca runs the offense
Tommy is a quick point guard who may not have scored a ton against Kent but pushed the ball and found countless open teammates for easy buckets. He had two passes, that threaded the needle, leading teammates on fastbreaks for easy lay ups. Also he had two impressive lobs to Baye for huge dunks. Tommy has some of the best passing skills and speed in the state definitely someone to look out for this year,
Logan Schayes is a force down low
Logan Schayes is a tank down low, he is 6’6 and quite bulky. He did a great job on defense limiting Lutherans big men from getting too much in the paint. He also had some good finishes down low using his body move defenders for easy lay ups. Logan’s a player to look out for being related to 6’11, former NBA player Danny Schayes, this kid could hit a growth spurt soon.
Aaron Morgan Steps up in the absence of Josh Greiving
Aaron Morgan is a good athlete who runs the floor well and can shoot the ball from the outside. With Josh Greiving out for the game, Aaron stepped up and hit some shots from the outside when Lutheran were in scoring slumps. He used his quickness to run open breaks and get lay ups. This guy is a great role player for the team.
Pace Billings leads Kent in scoring
Pace Billings is a good athlete who used a quick first step to get to the rim. Pace has good size at 6’2 and was able to get up around the rim and finish lay ups. He also hit some good mid range jumpers. Pace finished the night with 14 points, impressive showing from him.
Baye Fall changes the momentum
Baye did not have one of his huge games but had some momentum changing plays. He had some exhilarating dunks, two coming off of lobs and one through traffic. He also used his length and athleticism to pin some of Kents shots. Baye’s game just keeps getting better, he already has the height but adds athleticism and a good mid range shot to it, what a player!
