#1 and #2 3A teams go at it
Resurrection Christian (#2) and Lutheran (#1) faced off Saturday afternoon at a packed Lutheran High School. Lutheran at half was winning by 9 points and looking like they had the game in there hands. But then in the second half Resurrectionn Christian made a huge comeback and Jackson Ramero hit the game winning three to put them up by 1 with 5 seconds left.
This Resurrection Christian team showed off there experienced veterans in the second half. The duo of Reece Johnson and Isaac Jessup showed up to play. Isaac despite being in foul trouble a lot of the game dropped 17 points. Then Reece had some big buckets to lead the comeback at the end of the game. The most important player to them was Jackson Ramero who hit the game winner and some other big threes throughout the game. This game puts Resurrection Christian in the number one spot in 3A.
Lutheran still had a good game with two players standing out. Of course I have to talk about the freshman Baye Fall who made a huge impact on the game dropping 24 points and having at least 5 blocks. The impact he has on the defensive end is crazy because most of Resurrection Christians point came outside of the paint due to him. Then Tommy Apodaca had a good game with having multiple exhilarating and 1 buckets. Tommy has made a case to be the second best point guard in the class of 2021 in Colorado. I would not be surprised to see these two teams match up in the championship at DU in March.
Two undefeated 5A teams go head to head
Number 1 Rangeview faced off against our number 6 team Columbine on Saturday afternoon. Rangeview ended up coming out with the win (54-62). Columbine was in the lead after the first half, but then Rangeview pulled ahead scoring 26 in the fourth quarter. Rangeview was expected to win this game but Columbine kept it pretty close.
The Speller twins lead this team, both them are very good athletes who are one of the top duos in the state. They also have one of the best, if not the best supporting cast in the state.
Despite Columbine loosing this proved that they can still keep up with some top teams in the state. This team is being led by the one man show Luke O’Brien who can score on all three levels. This year he is averaging a double-double scoring 28.2 points and pulling down 11.3 rebounds. It will be interesting to see how this team fares in JeffCo this year and whether or not they will be on top again.
