Point Guard Leadership
Both of these teams were able to play well because of there veteran point guards. On Eaglecrest they have Zion Ruckard, one of the quickest players in the state. He took over this game with an inside shot and using his quickness to attack the rim. Also on the fast break he has great vision to find open teammates. On Legends side they have Cam Le Van who impacted the game by being a true leader. Cam may not run up the stat sheet with scoring but he is the veteran presence that this young Legend squad needs.
Eaglecrest Athletic Wings
Eaglecrest has two of the best wings in the class of 2021 in Ty Robinson and Skylar Wilson. They both had great nights tearing apart the Legend defense. Both of them had two dunks in the game showing off their elite athleticism. Also both of them sunk shots from behind the three point line. Watch out for these guys to put up a lot of points this year.
New Players Stepping Up
On each team they had a lot of seniors leave last year, so some new guys have to step up. On Legend a shooter Tanner Lamb stepped last night hitting threes and he used his pump fake to get defenders in the air and drive to the basket. Then on the Eaglecrest side Donovan Stillson who was in the rotation last year and is looking to get more touches this year. He can shoot from outside and has a good body to score inside; and thats exactly what he did last night.
Seibert Lead in Scoring
Last night Garret Seibert was one of the main reasons that Legend was able to stay in the game. He has good height at 6’6 and used that to attack inside. He also has a good shot from mid range extended, he hit some mid range shots and a three. Watch out for him to possibly lead team in scoring this year.
