2019 Governor’s Challenge Preview: Piedmont Classical
The Piedmont Classical Bobcats will make their first-ever appearance in the 2019 Governor's Challenge on Dec. 26. Here's a look at a preview for their squad.
Jalen Joiner, 2020, Guard/Wing
Jalen Joiner is a player that runs the wing, defends and finishes strong in traffic. At 6-foot-5, he's a threat from all over the floor for the Bobcats. As one of their seniors, he’s a prospect to watch with offers from Mars Hill and Lees-McRae.
Evan Joyner, 2020, Forward
Evan Joyner is a 6-foot-8 wiry forward bound for North Carolina A&T after this season. Joyner is a versatile forward that can handle the ball on the perimeter and play in the post. He’ll be one to keep an eye on with his ability to play above the rim.
Trent McIntyre, 2020, Guard
Trent McIntyre is a talented unsigned senior guard with a solid skillset at 6-foot-4. He’s an underrated combo guard that can distribute and score when needed and fill up the stat sheet with his ability to impact an both ends.
Jamarii Thomas, 2021, Point Guard
Jamarii Thomas is an explosive point guard at 6-foot that’s slowly turning into an all-around player. He defends the ball at a high level and makes plays in the open court and halfcourt at a high rate. He has offers from Catawba, Mars Hill and Lees-McRae.
Qualeem Poindexter, 2020, Guard
Qualeem Poindexter is a combo guard that provides a spark with his playmaking and shooting off the bench for Piedmont Classical. He's a sharpshooter off the bench that can find room and rhythm in a hurry to knock down outside shots.

12/26 - Colegio San Felipe (PR) - 6:45 PM
The Bobcats will kick off their 2019 Governor's Challenge schedule against Colegio San Felipe from Puerto Rico at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. They're a team with international talent to match up with them.
12/27 - Bishop McNamara - 5:00 PM
Piedmont Classical will have another solid matchup against 2022 forward Favour Aire and Bishop McNamara. It should be a strong matchup against him and Evan Joyner.
12/28 - Monsignor Scanlan (NY) - 5:00 PM
The Piedmont Classical Bobcats will close out their Governor's Challenge schedule against Monsignor Scanlan out of New York. 2020 shooting guard and Dayton commit Koby Brea headlines the meeting for the Crusaders.
