With home stretch of the season on the horizon, let’s take a look at the leading steals men in Colorado’s Class 5A.
1. Corbin Gamble, 6-2, G, Mountain Vista, 2019, 4.4 spg
How about this Mountain Vista team? One of the most pleasant surprises early in the season, the Golden Eagles just keep rolling and are sitting at 17-1 with just a few games left to play. Gamble is among the top contributors on his team, leading the way with 4.4 steals a night but also averageing 8.2 points, 3.6 assist and 3.5 rebounds.
2. RaShawn Wilson, 6-0, G, Denver East, 2021, 3.8 spg
Armed with a deadly crossover, Wilson uses his quick hands and excellent footwork to impact the game at the defensive end as well. Still averaging nearly four assists per game through 18 games, he also scored 10.4 points and is among the top playmakers in 5A with 4.9 assists.
3. Kwane Marble, 6-1, G, Denver East, 2019, 3.4 spg
Think the Denver East players active at the defensive end of the floor? Well, he’s the second Angels player in the top three on this list. Marble and pour in the points, and is averaging 20.7 per night, but don’t diminish the value of his 3.4 steals per game.
4. James Sanders, 6-4, G, Fountain-Fort Carson, 2019, 3.2 spg
At 6-foot-4 and bouncy, Sanders has the ability to affect the game in many ways and he finds a way to be involved at all times. He has four double-doubles on the season and, according to MaxPreps.com, came up with 21 steals against Pueblo Central on Dec. 6.
5. Zavier DeHoff, 5-11, G, Prairie View, 2019, 3.1 spg
DeHoff doesn’t stand out in one particular area but boy, does he ever have a balanced stat line. With the bulk of the regular season in the books, the senior is averaging 5.6 points, 5.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per night.
