15U Spring Kickoff Standouts
Friday night in Denver the Prep Hoops Spring Kickoff got underway. The games I scouted were at Gold Crown! This article features several 15U players that caught my eye with their play on the court.
“JB” White 2021 Billups Elite Wing
White is a young prospect that has the look of a NCAA Division I player. He stands around 6’3 with long lanky arms, which is a great indicator he still has some growing to do. The best way to describe the game of White is smooth. He scores the ball best slashing or driving to the hoop. White was super active on the court on defense and on the boards. He impressed me the most of the talented Billips Elite 15U squad.
Julian Hammond 2021 Billups Elite Guard
Hammond brought big-time energy, hustle, and defense. If the ball was up for grabs Hammond was doing everything he could in his power to garner it. Glue guy fits Hammond’s game to a T. Hammond shot the ball well from three-point range adding to the explosive offensive attack of Billips 15U.
Garrett Siebert 2021 Billups Elite Wing
Siebert plays as one of the bigger guys on the Billips Elite squad putting him in the paint on defense. Unless he grows he will be a Wing at the next level, which is where Billips Elite features him on offense. He showed off a clean pull up jumper from mid-range. On defense, Siebert came up with several big plays for his team moving his feet well and being physical.
Justin Simental 2021 Billups Elite Guard
Simental was great in catch and shoot situations from three-point land. The size of Simental limits him in some areas however shooting is certainly not one of them. The release of Simental is a little odd, but it goes in!
Erik Olson 2021 Colorado United Forward
Olson is a big physical Forward that had his way scoring around the basket using his strength and frame. He was one of the better bigs I saw on Friday night because of his high motor and crafty moves in the paint. Olson is not afraid to battle in the paint for position or boards. He projects to the small college level.
Gavin Poxson 2021 Colorado Chaos Wing
Poxson has good size on the Wing for his age at 6’3. What made him stick out on Friday was his beautiful jumper and his aggressiveness. Poxson drove the ball strong to the basket drawing a lot of fouls that he converted at the free-throw line. He projects to the small college level.
Kobey Matarazzo 2021 The Force Point Guard
Do you like a player with some swagger to their game? Look no further than Matarazzo. He has a game modeled after Jason Williams with his sweet handle that will rock defenders to sleep. What most makes me compare the way he plays to Williams are the phenomenal dimes he throws. He scored the ball well off the bounce. The pep and chip Matarazzo plays with are exciting to watch. Matarazzo projects to the small college level.
Colin Westfall 2021 The Force Guard
Westfall was a sniper from deep on Friday night. He was at his best spotting up for catch and shoot situations. Another area that stood out about Westfall is the energy he brings to the defensive side of the ball. Westfall projects to the small college level.
Jordan Reed 2022 720 Kingz Point Guard
Reed is playing up an age with the Kingz 15U squad, but you would not know that from the play he brought to the court. He shot the ball well, especially off the dribble creating openings for himself. The quickness of Reed helped him to create openings on offense.
