Recruiting Report: Vincent Damelio (2018)
Six-foot 170 pound guard Vincent Damelio of Primero High School scored 24.1 points per game as a junior with nine plus boards.
“Junior year was great,” Damelio said. “Stat wise I played pretty well but I’m looking to improve in my senior season.”
Damelio shot 54 percent from the floor last season and 71 percent from the foul line. He played in the off-season to get ready for his final year.
“Over the summer I played with Coach Bahl at B&B Academy. My focus for improvement has been trying to be a better player overall. I want to be able to score buckets against top tier players and be able to compete.”
Another focus is to reach the ultimate level for a high school basketball player, the state tournament.
“This year my class had most of the talent from last year and we have a couple good freshmen coming up to play that are pretty talented,” Damelio said. “I’m hoping to carry my team to state and win.
“For team goals I want to be able to win state. Individually, I want to prove that I’m a good player. Every game I go out with a chip on my shoulder looking to play hard and turn heads.”
Playing a the college level is a goal of Damelio and it could happen at a few different places.
“I want to play at the next level and be able to compete,” Damelio said. “So far, Adams State University is recruiting me for basketball and I have visited with them. Also, Metro State, and Coe College in Iowa are showing interest.”
