Recruiting Report: R.J, Wohlleber (2018)
Six-foot-10, 225 pound center R.J, Wohlleber of Mountain Vista is coming off an injury and prepped for his senior season.
“After my injury that took me out for the second half of last year at Vista, I started working with a personal trainer,” Wohlleber said. “So far I have really seen a huge improvement on the court. I will be working with him throughout the upcoming high school season.
“This past club season was a lot of fun with Colorado Premier, we played some great competition. It was a really good group of guys to play with and we are all still in touch.
“In June, I played with my high school, Mountain Vista. We played in tournaments at Denver University and Northern Colorado and they both went really well. I saw how good we can be, I’m excited for this upcoming season.”
RJ plans on physically being a more imposing factor this year.
“I have focused this past offseason on working on my strength and agility,” RJ said. “I did some private workouts, focused on expanding my post moves out to the mid post area, including some face up moves.
“I have been working to try to add those to my game at Open Gyms at Vista. I’ve also been working on my jumper, trying to expand my range.”
Mountain Vista will be senior dominated this winter so with experience comes expectations.
“At Vista this year our team is mostly seniors,” RJ explained. “We have played together since before high school, so I think that will be evident on the court.
“One of my favorite parts of this year’s team is how deep we are. I trust everyone on our roster, the importance of our depth cannot be overstated. Overall, I think this season will be a lot of fun.
“My individual goals for this winter are to be a leader on and off the court for my guys, and to be noticed by more colleges. Having good leadership on any team is important. I see myself taking that role with a few of the other seniors.
“Our team is in a very competitive conference this year, a number of teams could win it. I think we have a chance at winning as well.”
Several programs are looking for size with potential so the list of schools in contact with Wohlleber is long.
“So far, I have been contacted by UC Davis, UC Riverside, Denver U, IPFW, Biola, Cal State Eastbay, Florida Southern College, Colorado Christian, Concordia Nebraska, Carthage College, and Simpson College among other D3/Jucos,” RJ explained.
“I went on a trip to California two weeks ago and toured UC Davis, UC Riverside, Biola, and Cal State East Bay. I have also visited Denver, Florida Southern College, and Colorado Christian.”
