Recruiting Report: Kyle Cabbs (2018)
Senior 6-foot-5, 190 pound wing Kyle Cabs of Smoky Hill is one of several players returning for a team with high expectations.
“Winning state…is all on our minds of what we want to accomplish, no matter how pretty or ugly, getting a ring is our outlook,” Cabs said.
“My goals are one-to win state, two – personally average 15 and 10, three – rack up more offers, four – keep excelling as a young man and player.”
Cabs gave Smoky Hill 4.3 points and 3.6 rebounds a game as a junior. After a strong summer with Billups Elite cabs has improved his offensive game.
“My game has improved offensively especially being able to knock down the mid range jumper and finish in the paint more consistently. My game has always been about defensive and now to see that I am putting it all together and its clicking feels great.”
After the summer Kyle picked up a scholarship that helped him reach his key goal.
“My top highlights were definitely going out and getting my first offer from Chadron State, all the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears really pulled out,” Cabs said.
“I dreamed of playing at the next level and now that coaches are giving me the opportunity; it’s a blessing.”
Chadron State isn’t the only school talking to Cabs.
“I have an offer from Chadron State,” Cabs said. “I have talked to the head coach of Emporia State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. Regis is supposed to be in contact and I have talked to Metro State.”
Heading into the year Kyle also had a lot of confidence in himself.
“My focus point is keeping my confidence sky high,” Kyle said. “I have became more of a consistent scoring lately, I will definitely be working to keep this fire I have lit burning throughout all of the season. To help me with that is my favorite scripture Philippians 4:13, and hard work.”
Kyle’s favorite players? Two of the bigger names on the west coast.
“I wouldn’t say anyone has really influenced my game but my I like Stephen Curry and Lonzo Ball.”
