Recruiting Report: Jared Kasprzak (2018)
Thompson Valley 6-foot-7 forward Jared Kasprzak is a top 75 prospect in the senior class coming off a great summer with the Titans.
“This off-season I played more basketball than I ever have in the span of a couple months with the Colorado Titans, having practices and then tournaments in Colorado, and also, Texas, Wisconsin, California, and two in Las Vegas,” Jared said.
At 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds Jared gave Thompson Valley 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor. His high school team spent a lot of time playing together in the off-season.
“My high school team went to Northern Colorado and Denver Univeristy team camps and those went very well for us,” Jared said. “My main focus was to just keep the ball in my hands and just be more comfortable having the ball and be stronger with it and more aggressive.
“Also I’ve worked very hard at my defensive game, being able to change opponents shots and double team players at the right moment to cause turnovers.”
Kasprzak and other senior return giving this team a lot more expectations for the 17-18 year.
“Thompson Valley basketball is very senior loaded,” Kasprzak stated. “Me, Justin and Darren will have the most experience from last year.
“Justin will have a massive year with his offense being improved and being so athletic.”
Back to Kasprzak, what are his goals for his final year of high school basketball?
“Personally I want to be a game changer, being able to be a huge force on offense and defense while also being a good leader for my team. Our team goal is to be conference champs and then hopefully have a long run in playoffs.”
Jared plays both basketball and tennis as he is a versatile athlete at his size. He’s also hearing from schools in the Colorado area and the upper Midwest.
“I have talked to Chicago University, Illinois Tech, Lake Forest, St. Olaf, Macalester College, and Colorado College for basketball. I have visited Colorado College and they offered me a spot on their team.”
