Prospect Spotlight: Darius Harding (2018)
We are on the tail end of summer basketball and around the country college prospects at all levels are working on their game and working toward earning an opportunity to play at the next level. Prep Hoops Kentucky puts the spotlight on prospects around the Bluegrass State.
Darius Harding is a 6’5 guard/forward from Elizabethtown High School in Elizabethtown, KY. Last season Harding helped lead Elizabethtown to the 7th District semi-final, averaging 18 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 43% from the field (36% from 3-pt range).
“My high school season went well. Unfortunately, it ended short of our goal. Individually – I made the All-District team, as well as All-Area and All-Region teams,” said Darius, looking back at his junior season. “Our goals for next season is to first win our district, and then win the region, and earn a trip to play play at Rupp Arena.”
This summer Harding has been playing with the Louisville Prospects. The Prospects are one of Kentucky’s hidden gems and have had players going on to play at every level of college basketball. “Summer ball has been good, both with my high school team and with the Prospects.” This summer, the senior-to-be has been working on ball-handling and handling pressure, more specifically going left. I’m also working on having a more consistent jump shot.”
Harding is very good at attacking the rim and finishing around the basket with both hands. “My shot is on and off, so I’d like to get a more consistent jump shot to extend the other team’s defense.”
Currently holding no offers, Harding does has an impressive list of small college interest – including Kentucky Wesleyan University, University of Rochester, Georgetown College, and Midway University. “I’m looking to be able to get my school paid for and go to a school with a good basketball program.”
“In the classroom, I’m a good student. I have a 3.6 GPA and my ACT score is a 19.”
